That is up to the dev where they want them, most will have the save in the game folder and a 2nd place in the appdata area where the dev wants it or the default location of (For PC.) ((Your info here))\AppData\Roaming\RenPy
Agree strongly devs should avoid any save breaking changes once there's been about 45 min - 1 hour of play invested.
i'm done with this fucking game. With every new version the saves just gives errors and forces you to start from the beginning, every goddamn time.

I have never had a save not work for next update. I did follow instructions for deleting saves before 0.1.0 update. Could you be using an old save?
I haven't touched this game since version 0.8. Are the sex scenes better now?

No, it was there from day one and the tag is correct for this site.

From the first few sentences Sara says, she was involved with mc's father. Were they married? Is she mc's step-mom? Are Alex and Rachel her daughters?
And if they are mc's step-mom and -sisters, can youchoose how you call them? Calling them only by their first name when they're family seems very impersonal and cold.

Sara is the step mom, Alex is the step sister, and Rachel is the adopted sister.
No you can not call them anything other than what is there.
Rachel was adopted in the first marriage and MC was born in the first marriage and so far no info why the divorce
MC was 6 when they moved in with Sara and her daughter after the marriage.

On the dev's Patreon page he talks about going back and adding real video animation for the sex scenes. Right now it is mainly just image animation.

Ah ok. The sex scene with Wendy was fap worthy, but after that there's a massive drop off

Quite honestly, I am a bit frustrated too. I've tried it both with and without the mods and I've only ever dealt with these by finding a point in the old save where it did work
EDIT: I have a save right before the start of Day 16 that works so try finding a save close to that
