Did you talk to her before? If so you have to sneak into the house during the night to find her contract, the quest should get you back on track from that.

You have to spy at afternoon not noon, then fix a tree, then ask Linda. For Helena try behind her house or also afternoon not evening. I posted a guide a few pages back. If none of that works check your version and make sure it's V6.
