Not all games have to be Acting Lessons
. Freeloading Family, Become a Rock Star, and WVM are all pretty conflict free and are all great games that are very popular.
That's where you're wrong. Don't substitute conflict for drama or emotional moments. Conflict is what makes story interesting. Every even moderate VN is not conflict free, Triangle is not conflict free, though most of the conflict inside MC's head. And considering mentioned games...
Frealoading Family: MC has problems with his father from the beginning, not so long after beginning he comes to incestual relations, he tries to earn money for the living and so on and so on, MC's life is not a walk in the park at all, so not conflict free.
Become a Rock Star: right from introduction MC has a conflict with his dad, then there's musical group topic, by itself it's source of conflicts, even if author only uses cliches (and dev is good in storytelling). Not conflict free again.
WVM: MC is a walking oximorone, he's agressive and sometimes plain mean on one hand, totally forgiving and kind to his harem on the other hand. Aggresive MC cannot live without conflicts and dev totally smash player's face into those conflicts. Not in any way it's conflict free game, I'd say it's the most conflicting from the list (wordsplay intended).
