Yes, because that's the only way a Nicole romance path makes any sense at all.
Nicole is a neglected housewife who initially agrees to fool around with the main character because she's trying to stop him from dating her daughter, and then she begins to enjoy it because of how starved for attention she's been since her husband no longer wants her. She is conflicted about it because she feels guilty for being a cheat, but is also starting to remember how good it feels to have someone that finds her to be irresistible. When main character stops seeing her daughter, the two continue on for the sole reason that they both have developed feelings for one another.
If she were in a good relationship with her husband, and having sex regularly with him, she wouldn't have any reason to develop feelings for the guy who is more or less blackmailing her into fooling around with him. Her not having sex with her husband is a cornerstone to this plot. You don't get to say it would be natural for them to be having sex simply because they used to do so years ago, or because they are married, because the game has already made it clear that they haven't been in a long time.
There was even a scene where Nicole asks her husband if she can shower with him, and he turns her down by reminding her that he can't get it up for her any longer. There have also been several scenes where her husband tells her that he's repulsed by her smell and refusing to be intimate with her. His change of heart is entirely because he suspects that the main character likes her and is doing it to upset the main character.
We had previously been on a standard vanilla porn plot about a neglected housewife finding herself tempted by a young lover, and as that young lover, the players get to have the fun of nailing the hot wife that the idiot husband is cheating on with his secretary. Ideally, this would end with us stealing the wife away by exposing the husband as a cheat, or by collecting evidence of his criminal actions, or whatever. But that's no longer what we have.
What we now have, is a main character who is in love with a woman who is fucking another guy. And that other guy knows you are in love with her, and is relishing the fact that you have to sit there and eat your liver. That's what the main focus of her path is now. It's a massive change, and a lot of people who previously enjoyed the path are now going to hate it. And it's an entirely predictable response.
This is why so many people here are quick to avoid games with optional NTR in them. That stuff pretty much always bleeds out into the rest of the game. We already had a taste of it earlier in the game when the developer had a scene where Nicole sucks her husbands limp dick to show that he can't get it up for her. That scene was not needed because there was already a scene where they talked about it. It was just there because the developer enjoys that stuff, so I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we get a scene where John forces the main character to watch him fuck Nicole. Especially not after that conversation with Marilyn where she just ridicules the main character about it. It very much feels like the developer is testing the waters with this update.
I understand all this.
My point was, the option for her to ever go back and start to fuck him again, was literally always there, and in REAL LIFE, marriages like this, can go years without intercourse, then eventually end the dry spell. If anything, her going back for a roll in the hay with her betrothed, then feeling bad about it, proves she regrets it, because
NOW it's like she's betrayed
YOU instead, and it further proves she prefers (
even loves) you, more than John, clearly.
But I've already been
facepalmed from people who think I'm missing points or don't get it, when all I'm doing is trying to bring rationale and validity to
Orb's decision, and well, defend him,
AND his right to tell
HIS story. This isn't your/our story it's his to tell. Sure we make choices that mold it to our preference along the way, but it's still within his restrictions and constraints. If you complain about lack of choice, and being forced down certain paths, sure that's alot more valid to argue. But especially because it was a hypothetical, in the "
Other Path", it's still optional and avoidable to "
see" what you didn't want.
And furthermore, based on
his response posted here, he might have just did a (
somewhat troll) heat-check, to scare you guys and you shouldn't be worried at all, so most of this arguing here will be rendered null.
