I have to point out that the backstory for Vicky depict a pretty backward description about Chinese views on the gender of their children.
Speaking as a mainlander myself, it is true that traditionally Chinese families prioritized males over females, because we used to consider daughters part of another household, especially after they have been married, and we do not expect daughters to take care of their parents when the parents are no longer able to take care of themselves. Though even then, we still provide whatever education we can for them, the richer the family, the better educated the daughters. The sons, on the other hand, are still considered part of the household, and are expected to take care of their parents.
Nowadays, however, the traditional view has long been discarded. This kind of mentality can only be seen in the most backwards of places, and only in the most remote countrysides. Today, Chinese families want daughters more than sons, due to marriage being profitable (a subject for another day). Consider the fact that this story did not take place in a Chinese countryside, I find it hard to believe any families would consider the actions taken in Vicky's backstory.
Please forgive the rant; I wrote this not because I am offended, but because I find it funny that in 2021 still people adopt "Chinese favor sons than daughters" and use it as a legit plot or backstory. I am not demanding you to rewrite her backstory, I am merely pointing out the fact that it is illogical to use this trope as a backbone for an otherwise complelling story.
Otherwise, you have made a pretty good game. Good looking characters, conceivable lines of dialogue, and relatable situations. Good luck with your game!
