No you don't want to hurt someone you're involved with but she's either an adult in which case you should respect her agency and either give her what she wants or walk away. Or she's a child in which case then you're already crossing a line so take that however you want
If she's 18 then she's old enough to die and kill people in war, respect her. But the MC doesn't respect her AND is all torn up with ridiculous self flaggelating moral quandries that simply ignore her agency AND say you don't trust her judgement, and you're not that into her.
Yes ive had a similar IRL situation and I was hesitant for as long as it took for the girl to make it clear what she wanted. Once she did I respected her enough to believe her and enjoy ourselves.
The MC however doesn't trust her, doesn't have any real moral objections to such a horrible relationship, has already said he wants to bone her, but of course can't trust her to make her own decisions.
But he just covers that in self obsessed pseudo moral arguments all while simply tormenting both of them AND has said she should go find someone else which is ridiculous. If you're that not into her don't lead her on. She's made it clear she's not interested just in the d, she wants the whole package. So then either shit or get off the pot.
And I bring up religious hangups because I'm American and most Americans have religiously imposed moral Hang-Ups about sex and masturbation and anything that leads to enjoying your body so it's a fair assumption.
There's just so many things wrong with the reasoning behind the MC's wiffle waffling, self flagellation and disrespect of the girls agency. The pacing is fine, but instead of all this internal strife tell her waiting for sex is way hotter so let's tease and fool around for a while so it's more fun. Or even better instead of relegating her to just a weekend sex object, tell her you're in but you want to take it slow because you have all the time in the world. then the internal quandary becomes less wishy-washy and more about boy it's going to be awesome if I wait longer but oh my God this is so tempting.
But instead, the MC disrespects her own agency her ability to make her own decisions and relegates her to simply a weekend fling by telling her let's have fun this weekend but then you have to go find someone else because I'm not interested in a real romantic relationship, I really just want to get jiggy this weekend. Then throws an instant wet blanket in any enjoyable situation by blaming her for going to far, ignoring his arbitrary rules, and his incessant internal mental masturbation.
