VN Ren'Py Completed A Petal Among Thorns [v6.0.2-RE] [Lockheart]

Since Bliss wrapped up recently, I'm doing a replay of this before getting into the sequel (was deliberately waiting for the other to end before playing it at all - just didn't expect it would take so long!). This is my first voluntary replay of a title, and I'm enjoying it immensely. It's also longer than I remembered it being, which is kind of nice, but I'm glad it isn't too, too long (that's what she said?) because I've been spending a lot of time with completed titles and grabbing established titles for the first time, and multi-week play throughs of single titles is starting to wear on me - I can maybe do 3-5 hours per day this time of year, but don't like to go much more than that - I have other responsibilities and other interests, as I'm sure we all do.

All that said, I almost forgot how good Lockheart's writing was, particularly compared to other AVNs with a similar focus. This little gem gave me a huge smile when I ran back across it. Looking forward to getting through this and into Bliss.

Well, lots of things that are right.
1) male MC is invisible. Thats a big yes.
2) toying with fetishes.
3) incest (i usually like mom/son better but thats ok)

So far, it feels good even though its wrong. As a porn game its what i am looking for. Though i would prefer a more "dominant" route.
But romance is nice too.

Speaking of babies with all the creampies going on in this one and I hear in Bliss as well. There should be some bellies growing with Daddy's offspring in them, yet no pregnancy tag. It is a logical extension of the sex banter from Petal about her wanting her daddy's seed to fill her up. Why not daddy's babies as well?

Hey Supporters,

I was debating on telling you guys about this, or just releasing it when it was all completed. I've decided to just let you all know. I'm working on something I'm calling Project Petal. I deleted the rogue morph that was deforming my characters. With my second computer, I've queued up all the renders for A Petal Among Thorns, and they're re-rendering without being able to load in that rogue morph.

I don't actually have to do anything. I'm just letting my second computer generate the images. However, when the images are all done, I'll have to do some editing and combine them into a working build.

This is not for a re-release of A Petal Among Thorns though. This is for a beginning to end Rose Garden game that will be complete with the final episode of Over the Moon. I'm going to put A Petal Among Thorns, A Moment of Bliss, and Over the Moon together into one game called The Rose Garden, and I'm going to release it as one big game. This will definitely take some time to create, but I won't work on it until after Over the Moon is done.

You'll all still have access to the original if you prefer. The reason I'm doing this is because the rogue morph makes Petal look too young, and has gotten me into a lot of hot water. This will also make the entire combined collection more fluid.

Again, this is just something I'm doing in the background and it's almost entirely hands off so it won't take away any time from The Judas Ghost or Over the Moon.

I loved Lockheart's work BEFORE he actually finished Avalon. Seriously, the fact that he FINISHES a story and doesn't drag it out so long that his interesting characters become one dimensional fuck monkeys.
I'm so tired of nuanced love interests becoming horny cardboard cutouts.

I absolutely loved the writing in this game. I don’t know how to explain it but I liked how she just wasn’t throwing herself at me , but was being manipulative, in a dominate fashion l. I guess I really liked how she took the lead and kept the story moving. Anyone else writes like this ? I can’t wait to try bliss and over the moon

Check out "Light of My Life" by NaughtyRoad. They plus Lockheart and Perverteer are my favorite VN devs.

It's a game which has it's issues but the main LI / secondary (female) MC sound like exactly what you are looking for.

No, I don't believe lock has put out the first part for Over the Moon yet. But when he was first talking about Petal he had plans for it to be a trilogy. And had working titles. So I'm going to guess he also had a storyboard for the trilogy since when he was developing Petal he also previewed some designs of Bliss and such. He took a break from the Garden Trilogy to put out the first part of The Judas Ghost. I have not checked in with his development plan schedule lately admittedly, but I do not believe he has stopped his plans to finish the garden story so you can expect to see Moon sooner or later.

Correct, Jonesy was a fan of Locks work and tailored Christmas Daye off of Petals' story arc to a fair extent. I believe in those threads there are several statements by Jonesy on this topic.
