I'm guessing one of two things. One, you've already talked to her about it (it's actually pretty easy to do without realizing it if you're like me and click basically every option without always stopping to check the walkthrough). I'd go talk to Mom Granger and see if you can send her to look for the dragon gem.

It is a little inaccurate, I had been following the apprentice path as well only to stumble on

Important: you must have learnt the training "defending yourself with magic" or have Gina's Necklace or have Pamela's Bracelet or you will be charmed and it is game over

At the point you're told this you no longer have the book so can't learn "defending yourself with magic". There's another part that tells you to dig with the shovel, despite never having mentioned buying it.
Not a big deal, just requires you to re-route a little.

As another note, not sure if it's been mentioned in the thread, but incredibly easy to cheat money and mana in this game, without having the cheat mode enabled.

you need to download 14.7b as well since 14.7c was just a patch i believe

I think it needs the tag "real porn", and by the way this might be the best one of the category I played, I was rather disappointed by "the company" which seemed to force you into becoming gay on the long run, as if it was a disease, some others I tried seemed to require so much grinding that one had no idea if there was going to be any payoff, plus it seems there is a lack of sense of continuity, aka, using images that are clearly not the same woman or the same context.

While this one hit all the marks, anyone knows of a game as good as this one within the same genre? I find it rather hard to wade through the TF website.

Not really. It just the one of possible ways, but because The Company is far less finished in comparision with A Spell for All it may look like "gay path" is the main.

I can recomend Breeders Puzzle (no grind at all, just puzzles) and Breeders Haven (for me grind is not so obvious).

Hi, sorry if this has been brought up before, but I'm having some issues. Just downloaded the latest game and tried playing it through Edge, but I don't get any pictures. After a while I tried with Chrome, but get the same issue, and the same with Internet Explorer. Does anyone know what the issue could be? Or if I missed to download something?

Yeah, make sure you install A patch, then B patch, then C patch to make sure you have everything.
