Just because of lot games use the exact same method doesn't mean it's right. Just like many people can be wrong about something until someone points out the right way to them. It was a major reason I stopped playing the actual video games ages back due to how crap and samey they all were. So I don't understand why you're surprised by this.
You can't tell that you are wrong about this, even though it has been pointed out to you.
Look at the name of the game "a STRUGGLE with sin" Chyos doesn't want the player to have the benefits of a house without being heavily involved with both Emily and Mira. The MC has to chose between one or the other, or jump through more hoops to get involved with both. That entanglement happens through building Emily the orphanage. Getting involved with both is playing with the SIN aspect of it. You could complete remove any temptation of being entangled with Emily / Mira, Penny / Henry, or Kate / Claire if you could just concentrate on getting enough cash to get the keys to your house, then only have to worry about the coin needed for your house. Getting the need for the orphanage is related to the reward of having your own house.
You are literally crying about rewards in a game coming at a price. If you could just renovate your house right away, why even have to renovate it in the first place? Why not already have it with a good bed, bathroom, kitchen and maid quarters? Why stop there, why not just already have the Orphanage stocked with 20 beds from the very beginning?
You don't have to like the game, no one is saying that. But it is extremely laughable that you don't realize that it was thoroughly planned out. That it was just bad programmed without Chyos realizing at, but since you came along he will realize that error and fix it?
Have you played this game at all? Look at what it takes to get into Carmen's pants, or to complete the monastery, max out your Merc's, etc. This game is built on labyrinths of triggers that flip switches that are unrelated in the micro but fit together in the macro.
You don't have to like it, and you can keep not playing, this game is clearly not for you. But it really is wrong headed to think your complaints happened by accident. They are the game that Chyos is making. It is apparent in every aspect of the game. You can't get the mines open without having saved Emily from the bandits. You can't have sex with Verena without getting Corven a rabbit's foot. Hardly any reward happens without a whole bunch of unrelated things happening first.
