He needs to complete his game first and then think about doing cosmetic changes. Seriously AWAM is never gonna be completed if he keeps wanting to make changes all the time.
AWAM has gone from being one of my most played and most wanted. To one of the most avoided on F95. Seriously he has nuked his own Creation in my eyes. Really thought we were getting somewhere with the Sam update a while ago. Hmmm such a shame. There is drawbacks to being a perfectionist and it's having a detrimental effect on his game.

Call me crazy, but there is no way L&P wrote the devblog post (first spoiler) himself. The second spoiler has your usual L&P comment in somewhat broken English, which you also normally see on his devblogs (even worse most of the time). Something about this is weird, and it's not just the terrible new model. He's either used ChatGPT for the devblog post, or someone else wrote it.
That doesn't have to mean anything really, but something else I find quite weird is how this was worded: "I have no doubt that our progress will be evident to all..."
This is a wording one would use if there was more than 1 person working on it. Again, this could just mean nothing, but this whole remodelling nonsense in combination with this devblog has me raising an eyebrow or two.

The best part of AWAM is how it provides endless material outside of the game itself for us to debate and conspire about. I think many of us believe that there's a good chance that AWAM is a group project and shares talent with other games of similar quality (and development habits). Literally the most interesting thing about AWAM at this point is about the development process because the game itself has lost its luster.

Shigeru Miyamoto is the creator of the super mario bros and with all the graphical changes that mario has gone through, he is still proud of the pixelated mario he created in 1981.
for me it is sad to see how much a game creator can dislike his own game "how bad her texture" "sketch of a real character" "ugly" " horrible" ,...
i think L&P dislike sophia this much because he didn't design the original sophia character and now that he have designed his own he is jealous of the way people still like the original and dislike his creation
so he will troll people and say they love the original sophia because of nostalgia, they can't recognize beauty and etc to put ice on his bruised ego .
i posted about the update v0.195 that it have lost what made the game unique and now the game has completely lost it's identity.

Which is funny considering how he always sucks his own dick for the render quality he produces, especially when being criticized for his work. But the second he makes a change nobody wants, it was just all bad anyway. lol
Trying to justify his actions by shooting himself in the foot. Classic L&P move.
I suspect that the changes are in some way a response to the success of the Fan Art projects - which are quite successful in my mind. He needs to seize back some kind of control or "originality" by making more work (or undermine) the Fan Artists. Just my paranoid delusions likely.

These alternatives are so desperately lacking the essence that makes Sophia so striking. Even after all these years, every time I open AWAM and see Sophia that first time I have a wow moment. (current) Sophia strikes me as something akin to Audrey Hepburn - obviously fantastically beautiful but also captivating and something rare.
These other characters are beautiful but unremarkable. I think you could see women like that walking down the street with some regularity and while you'd recognize and acknowledge their beauty they wouldn't be all that memorable.

True.
I think the new model looks less realistic overall. It's a walking Instagram filter imo, and the new hair (god knows why his comparison is with old hair..that's just stupid) will only make it worse. Even for the current model it's hard to imagine her being a 38-40 year old woman, though one can rarely see a beauty blessed by the DNA gods, but...New model with new hair, she'll look like a 20 year old, barely older than her supposedly 17-18 year old daughter.
It's really bugging me that he's only made renders with the old hair. It's really weird. Almost as if he's made the model ages ago. I have no explanation for this.
