Moral of the story : beware of thin ice.
Sadly I can relate and prove Newton's Three laws right every time be it on ice or snow.
I. Every object moves in a straight line unless acted upon by a force. Usually, the comically sad attempts at avoiding a collision.
II. The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force exerted and inversely proportional to the objects mass. In straight English that is when gravity taking over on a ski slope and the formula of v = m/s kicks in which is very and most relevant to Newton's third law:
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction-- except when the movable (me) meets the immovable (trees, buildings, walls or some 300-pound gal called Bertha)
