The game has multiple endings, there was a bug that would prevent you from getting one of the endings no matter what, even if you started a new game.
Now it's fixed but you need to start a new game.

Glad you found the bug. It would've been a lot tougher if you hadn't found it until the next-to-final release or something. I have enough fun with this game that I really don't mind restarting.
