First off as much as I did not like this update did none of you actually not see a problem happening since Peter is beating his wife and Melissa, has a gun and threatened you? I mean seriously first Melissa is stealing his stuff and Megan is flushing it, that does not exactly scream everything is gonna be great. My problem with the game is that you can literally be the biggest asshole with Megan and you still have to date and fuck her. I am ignoring her, complimenting her friends and she keeps throwing herself at me. Where is that in all the other games that drive me fucking nuts, because you make one wrong choice and the girl is out. If that is what the dev wanted then why even give any choices for Megan as they do not seem to really matter.

Well I on the last release I was disappointed, now on this release I find that even worse. One moment your suppose to be strong for the surviving woman and the next your crying your eyes out and screaming at the top of your lungs cause you cant take the loss. So I guess a game can go from good..to I like this..to huh.. to what is this shit...

Similar to what Skylaroo described I feel I was playing one type of game to start that seemed to get better then a different game with the last release and then it got even worse on release 7. In this release I feel they gave very little thought on what the character mental state would really be like or what a psychology session for the character would really be like. Not to mention the remaining girl recollection of what happen. Also if their state was so bad the option to console the surviving girl would not be an option.

Then again this also relates to the previous release with the character inability to save both and the developers lack of giving an option to die trying. I would think that if the character is so upset at losing one of his love then he would have died trying to save both or be strong enough to live with his choice especially if he has to be strong enough to take care of the surviving girl.

Also the surviving girl all she recollection show a situation that was at most not plausible. If they pasted out due to smoke then the smoke would have been noticeable enough to head for an exit. If they became unconscious due to someone knocking them out then they would have felt being hit and the other girl screaming.

Can't believe how much I got drawn into the story-line with EP's 1-5 on this one. I'm sure I screwed up the intended path's a bit as I started out with the MC in full slut mode (option to fuck? go for it...) then kinda fell for Meg & Mel and rather than replaying it I merely fixed it via the console.
EP 6 was pretty good until the ending and EP 7 I'm still in "WTF just happened" mode. Reminds me of the Harry Potter book series (yes it's odd but it fits my analogy book to episode)...Books 1-5 are freaking amazing, book 6 felt like it got derailed a bit then book 7 the train got transported halfway across the globe yet nobody 'inside' notice's. Hopefully EP 8 brings it together, or at least sets it closer to on the right track than HP & The Cursed Child did...lol *cries for Mel*

Damn right. Eps 1-5 were like "I'm in a great fucking mood today" and when eps 6 endings comes up it turns into "Is this hell?" right away lmao

We have reached the point where it is now more believable that a 20 year old male is living at home with his mother and sisters and they all want his junk.

Seriously though, I was on-board with a bit of drama up to a point in the last update, then it got out of hand IMO. Now i'm definitely just done. :(

Yep planned from the start. No argument there.

The only issues I have is the storyline/expectations changed which is a sad departure of my hopes and dreams of this game and that initial magic went from "can't wait for the next release" to "i hope that final release gets done quickly so he can start working on his new game already".

Any other games with this art style and real consequences for choices like this that people would recommend?

The story was finished before the first episode dropped - it hasn’t changed - it was a thriller from the start - everyone is judging it as a romantic drama that has some how gone awry..
Okay, I think I can see where you're coming from.
My thoughts on this:
If someone was looking for a thriller, they probably would have left before the thriller part, although... a few would have definitely stayed because the slice of life part was so good. If it was tagged as a thriller, everybody would have been happy.
I mean, you see movies on TV and theaters presented as thrillers and it doesn't do them any harm, so if you fault other people now for coming in not expecting a thriller... dunno about that.

@PHANTOM44

Just stop white knighting for the games author, shitty creative decisions are still shitty (and even many good decisions don't give an automatic pass for the shitty ones)!

And about all the whole this is a gritty game with dark themes and no romance thing (quote directly from patreons main page)...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now I am working on this episodic adult VN named Acting lessons, which is a first person game with the focus on friendship, romance and story telling. I love adult games that are sexy and take their time to tease and engage the player and this is what has inspired my game.

The plot
The game centers around you, a heartbroken man with a background in cryptocurrency trading, telling the story of how you met a girl named Megan during a life changing day.
Megan is a young aspiring actress down on her luck and in desperate need for help. Will you be there for her when she needs it the most and help her turn the tide? Will you be able to win her heart?

Will you enjoy the game?
I am sure you will enjoy this game if you are like me and enjoy high quality and creative adult VN's with a slower pace, engaging story telling, branching choices and 100% straight adult content. While this game includes sexual encounters it is not centered around hardcore sex. Story telling, suspense and humor are key elements to this game.

Who posted it on here ? Do they have tags on patreon? Why would the writer take the chance of giving the ‘game away’ on his own game?
N7 posted it on here. Do they have tags on Instagramm? Tags elsewhere don't matter and the doc has been on here for a while.
Like I sad above: There is a reason that movies and games are categorized by genre and people still go into movie theaters to watch a thriller, even tho it was 'given away'. The doc is good enough of a writer to make a thriller, by saying that it would have weakened the game, you make him look bad.

So who gave you those expectations - DrPinkcake didn’t upload it here - he didn’t assign the tags
You keep saying this as if it means anything. The Patreon description says it's a "first person game with the focus on friendship, romance and story telling." and "Story telling, suspense and humor are key elements to this game." The end of ep 6 certainly fits as a suspenseful element but everything after is far beyond suspense. Episode 7 does not fit anywhere in the description because it's just grim and depressing. There's no romance, no humor, and any suspense is subjective. There is friendship but it means fuck all when everything is depressing.

There's absolutely no defense for improperly describing and/or tagging a story.

Maybe I've played more good VNs, but I've definitely played VNs where I felt emotions that had good foundation. At its best, Acting Lessons has some good stuff to offer and earned emotional response. Liam is the best character in this game with the most earned emotional connection and development (and I think the most real world connection for the dev, which is why Liam feels real). Melissa is good too, although she goes too damsel in distress (for me) to drive home the point that people should want to protect her. Megan and Rena are alright, a bit harder to take either of them seriously since Megan is so naive and Rena is such a backstabber but we're still supposed to like her. But still significantly better than the average porn game characters.

This game had 4 good episodes, good characters, then fell off a cliff and now needs a miracle to recover for episode 8. No shame in trying and failing, and a great first effort. However, kind of sad to see the gulf between people who are saying "2-3 stars, started off great and lost its way and here is why I think so" and "5 STARS BEST EVER". From my perspective, the people praising it so highly are maybe a bit inexperienced with good writing and good games if feeling emotions from a story is new to them and they don't see the story's flaws.

Not the same game at all but I recommend Crescendo for people looking for a better example of slice of life mixed with drama:

I recommend the nurse. Also, note the game's art style and description clearly lets players know what they're in for, no attempt to trick people (which is one of my criticisms for AL). It's old style, slower paced with more reading.

Unfortunately as this game has become more divisive, the thread has more people arguing fiercely against the internet. Reminds me of the huge debates on Telltale's Walking Dead games, like for or against Kenny. As people became more tribal, the threads became pointless. People like what they like, and no one's going to change the internet's mind by posting a lot in defense of their opinion, haha.
