Unfortunately as this game has become more divisive, the thread has more people arguing fiercely against the internet.
I find it more sad that the posts are starting to repeat the same things over and over again :p Hmm... haven't heard about Crescendo but too much reading is a turn off for me in VNs of any kind (I get a book for that), thanks for the recommendation regardless :)

I'm going to let you in on a little secret here, Rob. The Daz store and Rederosity sell things technically called geometry shells, which in the case of things like moles, freckles and other similar things simply apply a map of your desired feature on top of the skin on the same place on every Daz model you apply it to. You can change the color and the intensity easily, but to move the mole or freckle, you need to edit the maps. This is often too complicated for your beginner, who is just trying to tread water creating models that don't look like freakshows.

This is why all of his characters with moles have identical moles.

If the game is built one way for Episode 1-5, then it's reasonable to expect that Episode 6-8 would continue on. The sudden change is unexpected and questionable.

Think about it this way, if you've been reading 5 books of Harry Potter which is about a boy wizard, it doesn't make sense for the 6th book to suddenly be about Harry Potter trying to solve a locked-room murder mystery using his little grey cells.
Again, it's about your expectations. Since you expected one thing and didn't get it, you're disappointed. That's basic cause and effect. The game is what it is. You can take it negatively and be sad or mad about it. Or, you can just accept it for what it is and go on. It seems I can't assuage you and those that felt the same as you. If you don't want to take my advice, that's fine. No hard feelings.

That struck me as very weird as well. If there was a reception, would she have worked there too? Maybe there is a reason for that, maybe not.
Maybe Leah simply is the MC`s "alter ego" ... or that huge pink rabbit little Alice sees in Wonderland ... meaning she is always with him & talking to him & bothering him without even existing ... hahaha ...

I understand what you're trying to say, but you missed my point. Yes, it is my expectations. But these expectations are because of what has been given by the dev, it is not merely my own wish purely based on personal preference.

For example, if you go to a French restaurant, it's perfectly normal to expect that they serve French cuisine. Imagine if you get 5-course meal in a French restaurant, and then after 4 course of French food, then suddenly your fifth course is a Japanese dessert. You'd go WTF as well.

This is a game with no hint whatsoever of Leah being a psycho stalker/killer. As I mentioned in my earlier post, the killer could've been anyone and it doesn't matter whatsoever. It could've been Liam and it'd make as much sense as Leah. It could've been the ex-gf and it'd be the same. It could've even been Rena and it'd be same thing. Why? Because the killer never existed until the very end of Episode 7. It's a very poorly executed plot twist that existed for the sake of having a twist.

No hard feelings to you either, and in most cases, I'd agree with you because most expectations are based on personal preference (e.g.: boobs not big enough, boobs too big, character looks ugly, etc). But for this case, I'd have to respectfully disagree because of the fact that Episode 1-5 built the game into a certain way and then the dev took a completely random turn for Episode 6-8.

Where did the gun come from? How did it end up under the sink? Did he change previous episodes?

The game feels more like a tv show now, rather than a fap/porn simulator. I didn't even have to pull out.

The game has taken a bad turn. The endings to the last couple chapters are so outrageous as to not be believed. Next chapter I'm pretty sure the MC will confront king kong on the Eiffel tower

Before he started going down the wrong paths the game was very strong and going in a great direction... I don't know what happened.

He is amazing at renders though by gods

There were plenty of subtle warning signs of Leah's instability. Not enough to anticipate the extent of her psychosis, but its not like the dev just thought, "hey, why the hell not?" Its obvious that the whole plot was written before development began. People are acting like there was a sudden shift in genre, but the game has always been a drama. It took one episode to reveal the culprit. The game didn't suddenly turn into a thriller murder mystery. I am sad as much as the next guy about the death, but lets not try to mask that disappointment in some kind of literary criticism about the legitimacy of the game.

It just seems so petty and childish that people are treating this development like a personal affront by the author. Like THEIR story was somehow sabotaged by the dev to fulfill "the vision." The vision is what created these characters and story that you love in the first place.

edit: btw this post wasn't directed at you specifically. Just a general comment on a lot of the posts in this thread recently.

As I said before..clues there from the start it's a game with nefarious intent..the clues are in the text and the pics..I discovered so many right from early on...yes a "mystery" tag or something probably would have helped and made players search for the odd or out of place..but after careful replays..saw them there all along..it's a brilliant tale...

Well except that the author didn’t post the game here... as I have said already his patrons make do with the synopsis - the reception on his patreon has been positive - no one there has a problem ( I understand where people are coming from ) but he’s hardly going to change it if he doesn’t know about it - I would suspect that the timing of him apparently leaving this site has a lot do do with it..
Read what you quoted again and take note of the words "Patreon description". You do keep saying (what, 15 replies that say it now?) that Doc isn't responsible for how it is tagged here. No he isn't. But the uploader, I and many others based our expectations on what Doc had said of the game, and what to expect on his own Patreon pages, which he is entirely and solely responsible for. Thus to claim he isn't responsible for false expectations is beyond disingenuous.

There are many good points about the game and its writing. There are also many bad points about the way it was presented, the pacing, and the storytelling. That's normal for any developer's early game.

Those flaws are the mistakes they learn from to become better at their craft. If you keep trying to deny the flaws, you don't convince anyone that saw them for themselves that the flaws aren't there. Even if you could somehow succeed, what good would it do? Spoil the chance for developers to learn what didn't please an audience and make more enjoyable games in future?

Actually, Rob, that's not brilliant. It's a good attempt at something very tricky to do, and very brave for a first time creator, but it fails to do what it was trying for.

When it is done right, it is like the reveal on Verbal in the movie "The Usual Suspects". The audience can be shocked, but instantly their mind remembers all the little clues they'd dismissed, the things that had been noticed but dismissed in the pacing of the story. Things suddenly fall into place. You never, ever *have* to replay the whole story to see that it all makes sense. (Though you may often replay the movie/story now you have the new perspective simply to view the performances again in that new perspective).

The same is true for the movie Angel Heart, where you'll probably watch the movie a second time just to have extra insight into the performances of key players. But all the clues, or at least most of them, are instantly obvious the moment you get the reveal. THAT is the clever and brilliant part of doing it right.

If you have to go back to replay the story from the start just to spot most of the clues, and it took already knowing the outcome for the clues to work, then that's what a failed attempt looks like. It's still brave to try, because it requires really great understanding of the medium, of what an audience will and will not notice and pay attention to. But while I absolutely agree with praising the bravery of the attempt, let's not deceive ourselves that it was done well, never mind brilliantly. It was actually a failed attempt of what it tried to do.
