So, been reading and hearing a lot of good things about this game, but looking at the comments about the end...

I'm really not interested in playing a game that doesn't leave me happy. Should I avoid this?
I just finished it and it makes me happy in the way that I experienced a meaningful and fantastic story, with tons of laughs but also cries and really sad parts. And damn, I didn't expect this, I thought I just downloaded a porn game.

So, while you will be sad at the end, it's definitely a game worth playing

This is useful information, however it means I will not be playing it. I do not watch television dramas, I do not read "great literature", and I avoid any game in which I cannot defy all sad endings. Otherwise, I hyperempathize with the characters and I am miserable for days. I will literally cry about it for a week.

So I can appreciate why most people may value this game, just as most people may value "sad" but well written books. They just make me upset, so I need to know to avoid them.

Hi everyone, I wonder why but the truth is I'm new to this game.

Anyway, changelog for last version reads:
v1.0.2
Fixed an issue with intermittent crashing and loss of persistent data (such as Gallery scenes)
But I've just started playing and 5 mins into the game it has already crashed twice, I had an exception and Dr. Williams renders in the hospital room were black for me the first time (I had to quit and run the game again to be able to see them).
Is there any further update/patch/something I should know about? I've lost the first gallery scene twice already and I can't imagine what a nightmare it could be if it's gonna happen all time and I'm gonna need to go back over and over again.

Right so the house burning and having to choose to save one of the girls despite everything going alright?

That's a dick move and one that a lot of authors would get eternally shat on for. Completely do not agree with that decision whatsoever.
Well I was planning on playing this game then I read your comment. I just cant handle that kind of stress. I don't like seeing characters die in the game. I want to have fun and romance and sex. Not tears, pain and suffering if I want the tears pain and suffering Id just think about my real life instead.

But thanks for the heads up at least.

Not a problem. It completely hit me by surprise. And I know PinkCake's style so it didn't surprise me, but it still left a very sour taste in my mouth.

So if you don't fuck anybody else besides Megan and Melissa...you'll be fine?
As far as I know, you will still be left with the choice to save only one of Melissa and Megan, that part is there no matter what you do in the game. But being faithful to Megan/Melissa does yield dividend, Melissa will stick with you through everything for example(instead of her forgiving you in the end), I haven't tried the Megan path, but I assume she will do the same.

Thank you, seriously, for being clear about this. I was already leaning toward not playing (which is a shame, because the production value is sky-high), but this just makes it definite. That kind of (honestly a bit contrived sounding) forced-death (and not just forced death, but you choosing who literally lives and dies between two people you might care for) sounds like the opposite of a good time.

It would've been less-not-okay if the option for a poly relationship wasn't there or one of the girls was more a friend, but given the game can play out they're all in relationship with each other, it feels forced in order to get rid of one of the girls for the sake of "drama' or whatever.

This game...Goddamn.

I was having the time of my life playing this game. Leah was a bit off-putting since a while back. I feel like the house burning down was... out of the blue, sure, but it was very realistic and plausible. I have seen first-hand what obsessed people are capable of. DrPinkCake was right about one thing. This game does hit pretty close to home. I see here that a lot of people didn't like the move to kill off one of the characters, and in my play through, I noticed one thing.

1. So bear with me here. I didn't quite understand why he couldn't just pick them both up and carry them. His Monoxide exposure was far lower than both of those girls combined. He could have been able to make two trips. If the fire was blocking his way out of the front door, we know he got inside the burning house from a first-story window. The first thing that came to mind while i was playing that section was: "Just drop them through the window you came in from and don't let them hit their heads. I mean, think about it. It's not like either of them are obese or anything; not to mention that under those kinds of scenarios, since they're unconscious, their bodies are not going to register much pain from falling out a first story window (it's like 5 feet tops) and as long as they don't hit their head too hard, there would have been no long term damage.

Unconscious people are much better at dealing with impacts since their bones don't need to withstand both the impact and the muscle spasms that result from an impact. Sorry if I got a little too medical here. In short, there were a few ways to save both of the girls from the fire and the extreme sadness of losing one didn't have to happen. Then again, the fire didn't have to happen either, but that's how the author chose to write their story and I enjoyed it regardless.

Now, the fact that "Being a DIK" is a prequel to this makes me very sentimental; it makes me think about my own life right now, and how its going to play out. It really captures the forward-only and progression of real life as well as the finality of every choice we make. We get to follow the story of a college kid that has fun adventures through his young adulthood and his experiences into his mid-life years, and all the turmoils and pleasures that come with it. It really made me think, when I am at that age, I am going to reminisce the same way they do. Liam having Cancer and Roy being in a wheelchair... makes me wonder what happened to the other people we met in "Being a DIK", like Jill and Maya, you know?

And as for the main character, the story of him so far is that he came from a low-income family, and got a fortunate shot at college. He meets people along the way and makes typical but special college memories as well as a best friend, Liam, all the while securing an education. He then begins to invest in cryptocurrency and, on a silver lining of fortune, cashes out and becomes financially well-endowed, able to retire at a younger-than-most age. He goes grocery shopping in the wrong place one day, and meets a girl named Megan before the place gets robbed and he ends up in a week-long coma. He and Megan begin to spend time together after that, meeting her best-friend Melissa and a few others. Melissa was a victim of an abusive household that, through the Main Character, finally began to find green pastures in life. Main Character and Megan fall in love after some time and Megan's best friend, Melissa dies in a house fire started by the mentally-unstable and highly obsessed nurse that took care of him while in the coma. Not long before that, Liam is discovered to have a severe case of Hodgkins Lymphoma, a type of cancer that was slowly taking his life, without possibility for cure. After rigorous psychological rehabilitation, as well as Megan, developing her acting career, the two of them get married, with a intimate but immensely enjoyable wedding, and their future from then on is untold, but hopefully happy. And as for Liam... he was not so fortunate.

Just retold the story (badly) for the sake of closure. When you spread it out across both games, it really is a touching story.

Big Thanks to DrPinkCake for the wonderful, emotional experience.

Goddamit, i came here to fap, not to cry...

Hahaha, now jokes aside. I really enjoyed this game. It is the best visual novel i've ever played and it made me cry like a motherfucker. DrPinkCake is a fucking genious, so i'll stay tunned to Being a DIK, as it most probably will be another masterpiece.
