Hmm, I made a proof of concept to show it could be done because the Visionaire developers said it couldn't. @kolobezka made it into a Windows application and a Linux script. I haven't found the time to test it yet -- it is high on my list to do. But it should also be possible for macOS as well. I recently bought a mac Mini to experiment because I don't know that much of the internals. But an OS is an OS even if the bells and whistles looks different

Search for his name or my name in combination with patch and you can probably dig up the posts in this forum. I've also made a post on how the files can be extracted although that is not very useful because every animation has multiple 2D files as in a film. But it shows that a patch is possible and even that it could be very efficient. It should hardly be bigger then the size the game grows with every update, so around 300 MiBs.
