I've had no issues on my Mac. What exactly is happening? Any error messages? Bouncing icons in the Dock? Machine specs?
I am having a similar issue with this and a small number of other games since about a month ago on my Intel Mac.
In this specific case, I get an error message on my Mac that states "The application “AdverseEffect” can’t be opened." No bouncing icons in the doc. It's like the app isn't actually an executable.
This is a relatively new message, occurring circa updating to OS 15.1 or 15.2. The issue is similar but not identical to errors I've gotten in the past, which I solved by digging into the package contents and directly running the unix executable through the terminal app. However, in this case (and in the case of latest version of Demon Deals as well) I cannot find the unix executable.
Note that this is a different error message than what a Mac will display for apps that aren't verified. In that case, you can go into the security settings and force the app to be 'allowed'. In the case of this app, it doesn't even make it to that step where the system tries to verify the app. Immediately after double clicking the app's icon, the error message appears. It's like the expected file structure inside the app package isn't complete.
I agree with the poster from Jan 13, 2025 - it seems like something is missing. Which is odd, because this is an old app and I suspect it has worked for other Mac users in the past 2 years.
EDIT: I'll add that I downloaded and uncompressed this game today and have never had a copy of the game on my machine before today. I tried using several different decompression apps but it doesn't change the outcome.
