Good lighting makes the difference between crap renders and quality ones. It is an art I've never quite developed beyond being a complete hack myself.Holy shit, i have been ignoring lights in my renders all this time

Your renders seem pretty decent. Some of the security guards in your screenshot look a bit plastic, and adding a mild texture to the floor tiles will make a world of difference. Harder things to do would be to make the poses a bit more realistic, especially when one figure interacts with another. Right now the security guards vaguely look like they are holding their arms out in a headlock pose while the subject just happens to be inside the pose. There is little sense of weight or interaction between them. This is a skill I have never been able to do myself, so good luck figuring it out.
And don't take my criticism wrong, these are fine renders and I would accept them in a game. But there is room for improvement (even if that improvement may involve more effort than is reasonable for the gains).
