Can you name those games. I want to use it as a recommendation since I'm new to the genre and it's an ocean of games.

1. Everything from DrPinkCake who was humble enough to ask for help for better more believable characters and with just a tiny bit of help can write one masterpiece character after another with ease. In my opinion beyond gifted in terms of writing despite coming from a totally other background. Proof that imagination is the best writer you can have on your side.
His games are.
Acting Lessons and Being a DIK. The GOAT of believeable characters. You won't find anyone doing it better. I guarantee that.

2. Light of my Life by Naughtyroad. While the models are maybe not to everyones liking i can guarantee you that the story and the characters will hook you in if you let them work their magic on you. Despite Updates taking forever all this is done by a one man show with a daytime job. Not as many characters as DrPinkCake is doing but for a one man show this is beyond talented. Hoping this blows up the same as DrPinkCake did once his first game was completed because Naughtyroad would deserver alot more patreons for his amazing work.

3. The Deluca Family by HopesGaming is also a prime example of believable characters and a story that will hook you in if you let it happen. Writing is good and the ladies look fantastic. If you are looking for a game with personality and characters that are not the usual bimbos you will find this game very much to your liking. Also would deserve way more patreons.

4. Daugther for Desert by Palmer. While this is a tricky one to install and play it is a very loving and charming kind of game with excellent characters and believable plot despite it being a story about a father and daughter relationship as the name already indicates. Every character has it's own layers of personality and that shows from minute 1. In terms of writing this is very well done and while some game elements can be annoying the story is worth every second of it.

5. A Mothers Love by OrbOrigin. The story about a guy loving a girl but also trying to hook up with her mother at the same time. Only to find out that both sides start to have feelings for one another in a very charming, loving kind of way. And a very interesting approach on how love falls wherever it falls and the problems that come with it. Very good writing and characters and again a dev who should have way more patreons.


That is my list. Of course there are surely other games out there who can compete with them. But from the (a bit over hundred) games i played so far those are the ones that shine through every other one and keep popping up in my head when i look at them as a writer. As i clearly could not have played every game there is i hope this short at least helps you find what you are looking for aside from just a quick fap.

Milfy City, Being a DIK, Summertime Saga, The Twist, The Visit, Milftoon Drama to name a few. But not compareable to the first list in terms of writing. But have fun with them

Edit: They are all Renpy games as i despise the RPGM ones cause they remind me of the late 80s and 90s games who even back then looked way better ^^

Its the plot, the situations that the characters are put in, the risque nature of the relationships between the characters, and then of course the graphics/pictures/videos on the screen that do it for me. I'm not looking for a lot of character development, romance or love. Sex between a married couple is just boring to me, most of the time. I'm looking for characters who wouldn't normally be in a sexual relationship to hook up and have hot sex, and for the fun of the game to be built around that.

Thats the entire point of this forum i believe. I as writer can enjoy games i like with the kink i like for reasons i like. You can do the same with a different point of view and reason. The next person can play them for some entirely different reason from yours and mine.

Lets hope this game will be pleasing for the both of us once it releases

I actually don't like anything about Being a DIK other than the graphics, to be honest. I don't like the MC, most of the other characters are unappealing to me, and he's regularly put into situations that I find uncomfortable or unappealing. I gave up on it.

And the ones i named are at the very least compareable to fantasy novel writers you can find in almost every book store making a buck.

And once this game finally has a release i highly doubt the writing will be on equals with the renders or animatons. But if that is the case consider me surprised. My issue is not that most games have shitty writing but that we do not appreciate the devs who put some effort in their characters and their story despite them not knowing how to animate or make renders like lets say this game has or pretends to have. A good story can make up for alot of things. But good renders and shit stories won't save a game regardless how pretty they look.

If this game get's future pregnancy and/or harem update like his other previous game this would be a GOLD just like his previous game . I can't think of a single believable character period in any of the big VNs, and that's assuming the writers/devs or fans want to do that in the first place. You don't have to go as far as Goethe to call them hackneyed lol. Hell most of these stories are inspired by (aka 'nicked from') erotic lit and the writing's not comparable to that even on strictly technical grounds.

If you're looking for an interesting narrative your best bet are obscure games like Sanguine Rose (hands down the best written porn game I've played), Thinking about you, The night driver, Vis, Apocalypse, Grolokk just off the top of my head. And some Jap titles. A lot of those are hobbies and as such have a genuine creative vision behind them. Or in the case of the Jap ones they're meant for a market that appreciates creativity a lot more than western 3d porn patrons. Even the gameplay is occasionally fun in some of them. As magnificent as, say, City of broken dreams is gfx wise it's still Blade Runner fanfic. Without the skip function and gallery/walkthrough mods I'm not sure I'd bother.

Ofc we both did not play all games out there and if we try the big ones we end up in a huge dissapointment.
I agree however that there are some gems out there if you got enough time and will to find them.

As far as i know summertime Saga makes the biggest bucks and yet the writing is horrible.
Glamour would also fit the bill for big bucks and the characters are garbage.

Japanese games have about 40 years more experience in the field than us. And if we go by erotic novels in asia they beat us over entire centuries of illustrated pornography. The Kama Sutra was already around in asia before the roman empire crumbled away and survived to this day while we figured out if certain positions would condem us to hell or not.

I don't know the game you mentioned but would it fit the following bill of rules by the writer?
1. Backstory (Almost everyone does that)
2. Base it someone you know IRL (almost no one does this unless they all live near a top model villa and only talk to beauties all day everyday with 0 issues about their personality or their looks)
3. Traits you know from presonal experience. (If your character is a domina and you never went to one you get 0 points)
4. Believable Surroundings. (Again write about shit you know yourself. Describing the insides of a U-Boat or Space Station will prove difficult if you lack the knowledge how people behave in such places)
5. Character growth (Example: Starts as shy person and transitions to a confident one.)
6. Let your character become alive: (Once you write you will find out that your character as you imagined personality/traits etc will start behaving a certain way. Accept those changes inside your mind and write it accordingly otherwise you will have a confident character who let's himself get bullied or abused by another character because you want the story to go that way but your character would not behave that way according to his personality. A Domina getting dominated is not a Domina or you can't write for shit.
7. Attach a Hook (A hook is something that gets the reader by his emotion. Disgust, love, fear etc. Once you can make a character that someone can identify with, which is much easier if you describe someone you know of IRL you get an emotional hook)
8. Cripple your character. (a trauma, bad experience, overconfidence. only one foot. Being blind etc. Basically something that cripples your character in a certain way or certain situations. Physical or Psychological. No one is perfect and no one will care about a character who can literally do everything without breaking a sweat.

I judge written characters on those 8 points (more like 10 but the last 2 are way to complicated to describe without writing an essay no one would read) and will do that with these ones as well. Let me know if one or all of your games fit said criteria and i would gladly give them a try once i have enough time to play them. Thanks

If the writing of this game is as good as the renders i will stand in awe about the entire thing as i am pretty sure that even without good writing this will become a big project IF the dev finally delivers the first version. (which i am not really sure about anymore)
However if i learned stuff from big games who make a decent amount of money like Glamour or DmD is that you can literally write absolute garbage and still hoard in money from people who would think Tolkien and Dostojewski were boxers from the 1920. Meanwhile decent devs who at least manage to get 6 out of 10 or even 7 out of 10 have very few patreons despite providing a very wonderful experience be it erotic or pornographic material.

Still i hope my suspicions about this game are based on bad experience and that i am wrong. So lets hope for the best

Well, according to the dev itself and if no shit happens, the content for 0.1 will probably be done next week. And the rest of the writing, coding and testing will be enter by July. If this "game" hasn't been released by August, four months after the demo, then dev is really just thinking about milking anyway.
P.S: If he been took this "no release date until test" from the beginning would have been a little better. But some people only learn from the harder way.
