Poor Psychodelusional, he says he doesn't sleep well but I think his sponsors must sleep worse...
At this point, you cannot be asked to pay back 3 years of sponsorship fees, but I think that if making a game is so difficult for you and you don't want to spend on paying someone else to help you, have respect for your sponsors, make a comic.

mann wtf happened here, I remember in April the demo came out and the truth seemed it was going to be interesting, it turned out that it became a scam? but the worst thing is to see all the reviews of people who gave it 5 stars for a demo, seriously hahaha , they played 2 minutes and gave it 5 stars :FacePalm:

I Think F95 should tag this as Abandoned ( but you know they probably get $ from patreon for posting) The BS from THE DEV is obvious and anyone who supports Him/Her is very gulibel or just does not keep up on where your money goes??????
Prove my worng DEV and F95.

I really don't get it, Dark Neighbourhood was amazing, no delays, no scams, nothing wrong, but this one make me think that BoN is not that bad... actually BoN is still worse because at least this guy finished a game, instead of revamping it...

Because he's in way over his head with this one, don't think that anyone can deny the quality of the "demo" but it's also quite clear that it's a lot more work than his previous title, not exactly a one man show. He could pause the payments until he actually does release something, but let's not kid ourselves..

F95 decides on a number of points if something is Abandoned or not. And no they do not get money for opening a thread or similar stuff. If that where the case no dev would have issues with their games (locked behind a patreon paywall) getting openly shared here for free.

We thinking of the same game? It had plenty of delays and took very long for him to get it finished. When short before the end he already struggled with stuff in personal life. The same stuff he states he is still struggling with. But yes it was a good game.

He would have better luck making 1 character and a few scenes and add them to the current build that is stable (like adding it to the demo build and go from there) and keep going on from there in updates every 3 months or so. He then could get more ppl on board as his income would increase by alot once ppl see he is working on the game and the progress is very slow as it is a one man show.
Other devs are also a one man show and make no secret about the fact that it will take very long for an update to drop. Yet they let their supporters and fans know weekly what they did or didn't do and proof what they claim with either a progress bar or screenshots and stuff.

Even yet other devs tell you up front that they are a one man show who only can work on the project in their free time. Listen to fan feedback and be active on discord and patreon with their fanbase and discuss various topics considering the game and update process. To a point that some ppl get mad and tell them that instead of being on discord they should work on the game. Impatient fans so to say.

But the key element is always the same thing. Communication. The fact that psychodelusional can make a good game is out of the question. We know that to be a fact. However we also know it to be a fact that his ability of transparent communication is as good as non existing.

He keeps posting what he did or what he plans to do but he doesn't show a single shred of evidence about any of it. Sure we got some nice renders of the hot chicks. But assuming those characters and their wardrobes are already done all he needs to do is to make or add a new background and tamper with the lightning and even i (an absolute noob in this field) could produce that render in an hour. Depending on my rig and my render settings.
If thats evidence for a work effort of 2 weeks it will take 20 years or more to make anything aside from the demo. And more then any of us being alive to actually finish this game.

Best bet is he gets an update out that shows all he stated wasn't just hot air and proves us all wrong. Increase his income that way and hires some ppl that help with the project to get stuff done faster. Anything else will keep the process the way it is right now.

We assume he is working on the game while also assuming he isn't and he trying to convince ppl that he is working on the game while everyone assumes he isn't and ony a few gullible ppl throw money at him.

A bit like schroedingers cat.

I agree, but I do not think in the short term anything can be done to change the trend that does not only involve this dev, as you can see, despite a group of us, for a few months, have written everything to stem the shame, it is not concluded nothing.
A change can only occur with a consistent entry of teams to conquer the market, NLT style, whose competition would wipe out these diy time wasters that today the only skill is to exploit the dark side of a confused sector without rules.

We would need some major players for that to happen. I hope i will still be alive to see this.

Why not? I don't want to be so pessimistic and in any case there is not only this type of entertainment / diversion, while waiting there is no shortage of activities to have fun.

While it doesn't change much on a grand scale. It's probably not all too encouraging monetarily speaking for new people. Who were encaptured by the trailer. Thinking about supporting the "game" to see dozens of pages not only rightfully lambasting it as a scam, but are calling out all the lies spouted by the dev.

It's not our responsibility to change anything. Responsibility being a bit of a loaded word and I don't know if it's the right one, but hopefully it gets the point across. We can be a little voice of reason for anyone, who wants to stay informed, and hopefully have a bit of fun while doing so. The best and most wide reaching change we could have. Is teaching those new to the scene how to judge if a project is dodgy and whether the project is worthy of any support. A given dev might be genuine in his willingness of his endeavour but completely lack the skills, to see it into fruition. He may also have the skills and again be genuine in his efforts. But simply not invest enough of his time into the project for it to ever realistically see the light of the day. The supporters shouldn't have to gamble whether the dev will keep it as a sideproject for easy cash or stay true to his words and go full time once the goal is reached. It sucks but it's the truth. Making a game and hoping to make a living out of it is an investment like any other business. You'll probably not see a return on the money for the first year as a business owner. That is normal. All these peep squeeks fresh out of college with no experiece making games having just learned python. Jumps on the renpy train hoping for some easy cash on the side. This is one part of the equation why the market sucks so much and why the're tons of remakes of games, that are barely a quarter into the development before being "redone". This change doesn't spring from a change in direction or new gameplay mechanics because there's all too often neither of these. It springs from the devs knowing shit about anything. I know it sounds rough, but avoid investing in anyone, who have never made a game before. It will almost always turn to shit.

My ol' rules of thumb.

*Wait six months before supporting anyone.
*Is the development consistent and to your satisfaction?
*Is the communication clear from the dev?
*Is the development transparent?
NEW RULE: *Don't support anyone who haven't made a game before.

Doesn't have to be a porn game. Just anything . From what I've seen over the years a vast majority of those without any experience falls to the wayside. It's just not worth supporting and such support ends up muddying the market overall. There are a few exceptions and if they pass the other rules of thumb with and you like the product. Then by no means should you feel guilty for supporting such efforts.
These are just rules of thumb and are not meant to be taken as absolutes.
