I'd say it's about time for a hard drive failure, a trip to the hospital or death in the family announcement. Just WEG dev things when the deadlines are long passed.
I'd start with a change of place of residance which includes a looong period of new house renovation of course.

Then a hard drive failure.

After that...why not divorce? Or if not for drama then let him be super busy with a newly born kid.

Then a long period of silence...and the cheery resurrection of the game.

...which includes (of course) a complete remake of the game. That is still in its early stage obviously. Old version to the trash bin.

Hospital or death stuff...dunno but I'd just start with a hard Covid.

Then I'd add some mental problems due to all the aforementioned problems plus burnout.

In the meantime the publisher goes bankrupt.

And we have a Steam release by...guess when? ^^

Most likely is under contract to release at the same time on all platforms.
Who's supposed to be more important, the patrons that stuck with the project and want to play the game that technically they already paid for, or the publisher?
Now that is a terrible thing to do...
If it's a contract then there's really nothing to be done. Violating one is costly as fuck. But then why not just say so in the first place?

"I'm contractually obligated to a simultaneous release on all platforms." And it'll get most people off his back.

You say that, but doesn't that apply to pretty much the majority of all developers (not just porn) out there?
"Pretty much the majority of all developers" don't have their game delayed indefinitely because the publsher pushed the release date all the way to when Steam's moderation queue gets clogged up, seemingly without even being aware it's a thing. If a publisher can't ensure a smooth release, why is it even involved then, translations? Ah yes, because third worlders who don't speak English is a such a strong sales driver it was totally worth the effort and additional delay. Meanwhile the actual supporters who bankrolled the entire thing are left hanging. It's Mirthal's game so the decisions are his and his alone, but this also means we get to dunk on him for this entire shitshow. All he had to do is release the game as soon as it was ready on patreon and itch, get it on steam as soon as possible, and have commuity do the translations and patch them in afterwards. But no, he wanted to LARP as a big boy gamedev and have a big pompous release(his "publisher" didn't even market the thing btw, the game has zero public interest outside of dev's Discord, just look at this thread) so now he gets humbled and we get to laugh. Dude just kinda forgot his place, honestly

Speaking of marketing: the most recent Aurelia post on Critical Bliss's Twitter is dated Oct 28. There's nothing at all regarding the November release. Are they even aware the release is happening lmao? Did they forgor?

People will just start clowning on him for agreeing to a publishing deal in the first place
And he deserve it fully if that is true. With shit cherry on top.

Well, he obviously signed a deal so now he can't back out of it. Doesn't get him off the hook for getting into this crap in the first place though.

So, no news about this shit? I have written a commentary asking why Steam is delaying THIS particular game? I tell him that I never heard or read about a delayed H game. He deleted my comment...

No one at Steam is delaying any particular game, Aurelia's just part of a long queue of other games that are also under review.

I assume these are done in chronological order of when they were first submitted - so even if Gabe Newell has been eagerly following the development of Aurelia for half a decade, throbbing cock in hand, he probably can't give it any preferential treatment.

The publisher replied on the Steam discussion, and took down the promo video they had with an "Out now" blurb from the Steam Page. The publisher is clearly aware of the issues, and is acting upon it - sometimes the most you can do is wait. Hell, I've had contract disputes at work that took nearly 5 months to clear up because coordination between three parties in a legally binding flow means what could be a 5 minute phone call between 3 people becomes a weeklong email thread to do basic changes to the paperwork, and then another week to get it re-signed and move on to the next task.

I feel like people in this thread have never done any amount of development or business, let alone game dev. The publisher usually helps with marketing at the time of or after release, and otherwise exists to help with the biz reqs for publishing, not to be an all-encompassing aide to the developer. If the dev asks the person they have a business relationship and contract with about releasing early on non-Steam platforms and is advised not to, I think they're going to listen to the people they are in business with and not some pile of anonymous forum complaints that they want the game right now.

As Mark Rosewater once said about Magic the Gathering - if every pack of cards they sold came with a $100 bill in there, they'd get complaints about how it was folded. If your only post on this forum until the steam release is that the game is not out and therefore the paying people (not you, clearly) are getting scammed/milked, consider screaming it out the window instead - you'll get the attention you're seeking much easier that way.

I'm more irritated by some of the braindead theories on here than I am about the steam delays. Obviously he fucked up the release but fleecing patrons for a few thousand extra bucks makes no sense. The last patron exclusive version came out a year ago. So what are these people paying for? They obviously aren't paying for new builds of the game. Are they going to cancel their pledges when 1.0 comes out? If they are why didn't they cancel after 0.31? The only way this theory would make any sense- that Mirthal is stealing what would probably only amount to 2 grand at the most for himself- would be if all these people canceled in few weeks or whenever the game comes out. And everyone knows that won't happen.

I think people have just grown overly cynic/have been burned by other developers here. Even the likes of NLT, who was super consistent in the past, have begun dragging their feet.
