Fine, you win you dumb fucks.

It’s unlikely we’ll be able to add more content to Aurelia as our lead artist is now starting it’s own project (Follow him for news!)

My plan is to split my time between developing a new lewd adventure game and making adult animations
In the replies, regarding the game he's planning, clear implication that he's doing it on his own this time:
Thanks! It's a little intimidating but I think it's going to be fun.

So my plan is to start developing a game. It'll be the first time I've attempted this in earnest...

There's been more info in the same vein, but I can't find it now, it was most likely in Mirthal's tweet replies if anyone wants to keep digging for whatever reason.

I likely won't post in this thread anymore, whatever little discussion that was here has died down and I'm not very interested in spoonfeeding barely literate ESLs. I guess the gist of my thoughts on the situation is as follows:
1. Critical Bliss is an awful publisher, Mirthal swears they've been very helpful with translation and QA but none of these take precedence over actually releasing the fucking game and marketing it, two publisher's duties on which they've massively dropped the ball.
2. If you scroll back a couple dozen pages, you'll see Mirthal's posts from back when he used to post here. You'll see fairly easily from his style of communication that he's quite full of himself. He's not exactly a complete idiot, but clearly he thinks himself way smarter than he actually is. Personally I choose to believe that these delusions of grandeur are what created this whole situation.
3. I don't actually think Mirthal's doing this on purpose, even though it looks sus af. He signed a contract so now he has no choice but to abide by it; if he chooses to do right by his supporters and release the game elsewhere before he does so on Steam, Critical Bliss is gonna fuck him ragged. Again, I don't think it's orchestrated, even though the timing looks very suspicious: I feel like the key problem is Mirthal getting a publisher when he didn't actually need one. He could have done a Steam release on his own, and there would have been fan translations had he asked the community for help. He's just not very smart, that's all.
4. I took a gander at their Discord and there's no signs of riot, on the contrary, the place seems full of clueless paypigs. No, it's not censorship, they're just fucking stupid, one guy over there struggles to find an .apk of the game of version more recent that 21.5(that's from almost 4 years ago lol) and not a single soul(3k online) suggests Kemono or F95.
5. Given how a) Mirthal's got a loyal following; b) there's almost no public interest outside of that; c) his next game is years from now so any and all reputation damage will be forgotten - I don't think this situation is damaging to him in any way whatsoever. Walnuss moving on, however? Minigames are nice, but the art carried this game HARD. Coom games live and die by coom, and without a good artist there's no good coom. I feel like Mirthal's best bet is to transition out of coom games entirely and just do old school CRPGs. He almost assuredly won't do that though, so I'm just gonna go ahead and say that his next game is gonna suck balls, no matter what it looks like.

I've been following this game from early 2020 - almost five years now! I was fully ready to replay the full release one last time, say "phew, what a ride" and promptly forget it, but I guess this is fine too. Hope the game releases by the time it pops up in my memory again. Thanks for the shitshow, Mirthal.

"How much new content can I expect in 1.0
  • Ivy’s questline / art has been reworked from the ground up, including new animations.
  • Scarlet’s questline has been slightly reworked, with some new art/animations.
  • Janet’s questline has been slightly reworked, with some new art/animations.
  • Lily’s questline has been slightly reworked, with some new art/animations.
  • Main questline, involving the Duchess and Eri has been expanded and finished, including new art/animations.
  • New full soundtrack for the game.
  • So many bugs and QoL changes I honestly lost count at this point."

I knew that 1.0 was going to be some extra content but this delay for some scenes more it's kinda crazy lmao

mirthal would have to find a new pixel artist who's on the same level of skill as walnuss for his next game for me to get interested, if he just does regular 2D or, may god forgive me for even saying this, daz3d style art i don't think i'd care

At least at one point in Discord Mirthal said next game was gonna be 3d, but this is over 6 months ago.

There's some amount of censorship. For example, I was banned from Discord and Patreon for asking rudely about the delay/release (Mirthal said here he removed the ban but I didn't go back).

we got the what a legend update before this came out, now lets see if this comes out before the summertime saga tech update finishes :)
I really don't understand all these people donating to these games. Imagine paying any game company 10 bucks a month for the promise that the game might release some time in the future.

This is such an important point that doesn't get nearly enough attention for a lot of H games / studios imo.

The strongest example of this I'll always remember is Yorna: Monster Girl's Secret by Yeehaw Games. The art style of *most* of that game is absolutely gorgeous, hot af, and - most importantly - the standing art for the characters actually matches the H scenes. (Nothing I hate more than when a studio hires a completely separate artist for the scenes vs the character art, at that point they're basically different characters...)

But all this to say, in later updates of Yorna, they began to replace the original artist (Meolucky) with some more typical anime-style artists, I think there were a couple, and it lost all of its hotness and soul. Nothing felt like it 'fit' anymore.

Yeehaw went on to develop another game, MonGirl Sexpedition, and whilst the character art still looks great (it's made by Meolucky), the H scenes don't look anything like the actual characters - just a hodgepodge of random anime artists that don't fit the game's aesthetic.

Prior to that I was following Yeehaw very closely and anticipating their next and any future games, but once they lost the art, they lost everything.

I'll be following Walnuss's project closely, since we know the quality of the porn in his game is going to be exceptional - but for Mirthal, even if you consider Aurelia a 10/10 game there's no telling whether the next one will be even worth your time until we know the artist. We're not fapping to expert coding or optimisation, we're fapping to girls getting fucked :BootyTime:

No need to get upset about the delayed release, but I don't believes Mirthal on his word for a second. Too many developers with last minute illnesses, fried diskdrives, family emergencies and now incompetent publishers in this business.
