again, i think it might be best to start from the ground up with a remake of the game rather than attempting to "fix" the existing version. every time someone tries to do that, it goes unfinished. now that 3 or more people have touched the code, it's not any 1 person's code or writing anymore which could be an issue regarding consistency of writing as well.
This is indeed a very annoying issue, and I am struggling a bit with cleaning up the messes left by three different amateur writers, all with their own baffling ideas about writing. But hey look on the bright side, the next person to tackle this will get to struggle with the messes left by FOUR different amateur writers.
That said, I think everyone is wildly underestimating the work involved in a remake. Remakes/refactors of games fail the vast majority of the time. Everyone is always excited about starting fresh, and then everyone stops being excited when they realize how much work it'll take to get to even half as much content as the original game had.
Long story short, feel free to attempt a remake if you want to understand this firsthand; me, I'm just going to try and keep working and improving on what we have.
