It's also possible she actually talks to Kath sometimes; that cryptic statement she made about Ellie being perfectly normal makes me suspicious.
My impression of that was that Ellie is pulling the silent treatment on her as well, but Katherine is a trained psychologist and she's got a pretty good grasp of what's actually going on and why. Possibly even because she herself has her own demons and issues that sort of relate to our shared past. So she basically has insight that no other therapist would.

It's probably similar to how Katherine figured out what was going on between the two siblings, even though I feel like Ellie would never even remotely have told her that even if she was talking. Katherine is just good at paying attention and putting the clues together.

Of course I could be wrong and it's actually canon that Ellie talks to pretty much everyone other than her mother and the teachers at school. But I don't really get that impression. I think at the moment the only one she talks to is Jada.

The only question that remains is: How does Katherine know about the event when Ellie asked the MC about getting married? Sure, she could know that from Rachel, too, but I doubt that Rachel would have just accepted it so calmly at that stage of her life. That being said, we do know that Rachel underestimated or misjudged how close MC and Ellie are.

Personally, I think she only talks to her best friend Jada, and only when she's sure no one is within earshot, and to Katherine, but only what is absolutely necessary.

Or, possibly, Rec might be telling a story, and there may be more to it than we currently know. Especially since there is already a planned addon after the main story is finished that tells events from Rachel's viewpoint.

Maybe just back up off that ledge and see what happens.
Well of course he's telling a story. I just simply want to know from those who are caught up to the current content if we can limit our interactions with her as the story progresses? Or is it a lot more drug induced molestation throughout?

TBH I just don't really care to see her side of it in whatever flashback-spin-off. Sure she went through some traumatic shit but that does'nt give her license to traumatize a young child in her care simply because he's related to her abuser.

I can give you answers in a clearer (if more blunt) manner.

1) No, you can't entirely avoid Rachel. I imagine that's unfortunate news to all 3 people out there who want to.
2) What you care to see or not is irrelevant. There's simply the story Rec is telling, and you're free to engage with it or move on.

Sorry if that's crass, but hopefully that answers your questions.

Nobody thinks Rachel's abuse of the MC is justified. Not Rachel herself, not the MC, Not Rec, not anyone on these forums that I've seen. No one. That's part of the story. The MC even uses it as a justification for messing with her while she's drugged out, which is itself an immoral justification.
This isn't quite a traditional happy harem porn story. The traumatic events that happen to the characters aren't supposed to be justified or morally acceptable.
If you don't want to engage with that topic as a whole, that's ok. Bad Memories probably isn't for you.
But if your problem is that you don't want a story that accepts abuse or portrays it in a positive light, then I've got good news for you: Bad Memories doesn't do that.

It's a shame there isn't a sequel to this game

Oh I definitely don't think she talks to anyone else, just Jada and possibly Kath.

First of, she probably didn't. But by the time the story plays, she's changed enough to see how her previous self was a bad person. Second, a lot of kids end up saying they'll mary their brother/sister/parent when their young. That's not an actual, thought out promise, it's just a thing kids say to mean they really really love the person.
It's far weirder to see someone reacting with "No you can't say that ! I know you're 7 but that's illegal and immoral !" than something more along the lines of "Aw that's cute." and not taking it seriously.
Though, there are parent who will overreact on the smallest things, but hey, not everybody is fit to be a good parent.

TLDR : Rachel most likely, with hindsight, simply considered it being a childish expression of affection more than anything serious, thus mentionning that kind of old memories of a happier Ellie wouldn't seem out of place.

This game isn't even finished yet. Give poor Rec' a break, the man need to sleep.

It does. Thank you.

I'm caught up now and the rest of the game makes it extremely worth it for me at least being one of the 3 who aren't Rachel fans.

Ellie and Jada are the dynamic petite duo. The bitchy therapist is getting interesting. Hopefully we get to see what else is under cutie barista girls swimsuit soon and more Maggy office fun sounds awesome. And apparently we are now getting into the porn industry soon with hot VR chicks.

So now the only relevant question becomes, when's the update? :D

For what it's worth, I started the game out ready to be snarky and aggressive towards her, and was mostly ready to hate her, but the story itself sort of won me over. A large part of her role is sort of seeing how she's trying to change, and how you're now able as an adult to reinterpret her past actions in a different light (or at least understand the reasons better), so the main character is sort of left questioning whether or not she deserves forgiveness or scorn.

The game generally gives you a bit of flexibility when it comes to who you want to engage with and who not (I've deliberately played more hesitantly and have completely avoided multiple people others have had scenes with). While it's hard to completely avoid Rachel, if you're willing to engage you might find she grows on you a bit eventually.

Just started playing the game today (0.7.1), I had actually purchased it on Steam but had forgotten when I noticed in the Steam updates there was a release coming out soon, So I thought to get it on here and play it.

Overall I like the way it flows, the sandbox environment is not overwhelming to the player, and I quite like the models used. Very pleasing to the eye. It is a good story line and the MCs past is of interest and why is the Policeman Ward so interested in him?

Still, looking forward to the next release and keep up the great work.
