To train in gym you should press Z button fast.

If you play it on pc, you have to press the Z key a certain number of times during that limited period of time. If you don't exceed the required number of Z key presses in that time, you lose.
Try the Normal exercise instead of the Intensive exercise first, which requires fewer Z-key presses.
Start the exercise already prepared to press the Z key several times when the time display appears with the button animation. If you don't succeed, press the PgUp key to go back to the screen that starts the exercise, and thus avoid losing energy points (Food). And try to do it again by pressing the Z key faster until you get it.

Game is probably too big of a mess, to even try creating something like this. I've been keeping eye on it since the OG version, yet it never cease to amaze me - how many bloody bugs I encounter, whenever I try to play it. And now that there started to be certain progress in that department, we get the most tedious and boring grind possible...
