No 0.7 this year the dev has stated on Patreon. Instead the patrons (and the general public right before Christmas) get Apocalypse 0.3.

6 days of a planned 8 have been completed, work on day 7 has started but has been delayed because Tim started another game.
Have you entered a name at the start of the game before going to the gallery? This error says you have no name.

I tried to reproduce that way, but I can't. The only way I can produce exactly this error is bij going to the gallery before entering the MC's name. What I do see is that the errorline in my instance (6438) is different from yours (6227). That means we are running a different version of the game. As your line number is smaller your version seems to be older. Did you apply the v0.6.1 update?
Well technically its kinda abandoned for about 10 months already since last update. And no certain release date given to the public. So yes its abandoned. All hopes are lost

well, usually crunched means with reduced picture resolution to reduce total download size. But in this case there seem to have been code changes as well. That also implies saves of your crunched version likely will not work with the official version. If your goal is to just see the gallery and you do have the option to download the official version from the OP I advise to try the official version.

That's odd. Did you do this (on the official versiom):
start new game, enter your name, press c?
If it still crashes that way please append a new traceback so I can compare it with mine.
