This review is based on Version 1.0
First of all, I have to admit that it is very difficult for me to decide whether to give a four or a three star rating. After much deliberation, I have decided to give only three stars. In the following I will try to justify my decision in detail and plausibly.
The development of the game has ended with a complete game and so it is definitely worth at least two stars for me. It doesn't matter what else comes around. For me, however, a few criteria have to be met for the other three possible stars: graphics and story. To be honest, I don't really care about the graphics if I get a very good story in return. Conversely, however, the best graphics never make up for a bad story.
The graphics and animations are very well done. The fact that MC is such an ugly bird, whose face and, above all, his facial expressions are hard to bear, spoils the comfort of the game a little. Please don't get me wrong. MC doesn't have to look like a supermodel. But considering his behavior, more on that below, it's hard to understand why so many women and girls throw themselves at him. I also don't understand why there is such a trend in the AVN to give male MC such large turnips as penises. In most scenes, due to the thickness of MC's piston, but also the length, everything comes across as unintentionally comical. The female figures, on the other hand, are all very nicely designed. Too bad, however, that all women were somehow interchangeable. In a way, everyone was the same naked. A little variety would have been nice. But that's all nagging at a very high level. Beyond these two points, you simply cannot complain about the graphics. For the graphics and animations, I give an additional three stars all in all. The AVN would now have five stars.
Now we come to the most important points of an AVN: the story and how it is told, and the characters. I like the idea of the story. It's not something you see in many other AVN. A young adult who dreams of becoming a rock star sounds cheesy but has potential. But what the hell is MC for a cognitive underperformer? The way he usually talks to women is anything but intelligent. The dialogues are often qualitatively on the level of cheap porn. It all gets better towards the end of the game. You can tell that the author of the AVN has continued to develop during the development. Nevertheless, the behavior of MC is largely one-dimensional, which spoils the fun of the game.
The author has put more effort into the women. At least when we talk about Lisa, Jade, Jane and Selina. With the latter, however, you have to make some compromises, which I think is a shame, because I really liked this character and would have liked to have had more of a story with her. The story about Anna didn't have enough depth for me to really be able to empathize with her. Emma appeared suddenly in the story and from the start she had a lot of potential for a beautiful story. But it was simply forgotten and didn't really take place. Likewise Nicole. So much could have been gleaned from the character Nicole, but she remained a marginal character. Rosa and Catherine remained completely colorless. What actually became of Eva and Marie? What happened next with Selina and Karen? Unfortunately, I have to deduct a star in the rating. I felt that character development had to be sacrificed in favor of speed of game development. Now it's a four star rating.
But why did I deduct another star now? Because mistakes were made on the most important point for me: the predictability of decisions and their implementation. It is impossible for MC to end relationships in some cases. Just an example: MC has a thing going on with each Selina, Lisa and Anna. All very early stages in dating. But if you as a player decide that you only want to have a relationship with Selina for example, because this relationship reaches a point where you decide it's no longer dating anymore but a relationship, you can no longer break up with Lisa and Anna. At no point does MC ask himself, "Oh, but now it's come to a point where I should make a decision." MC does question himself in some soliloquies, but no course of action follows from this. In this way you are forced to slide into the situation in the hospital or the decision to leave the band. All this despite the fact that MC realized for himself a few in-game days before the event that the situation was not ideal. Well, it may be that the author wanted that quite consciously. Perhaps he wanted his story to show what causes narcissism and selfish behavior. But then he should have made it clearer in the course of the story that MC deliberately postpones these decisions and doesn't want to make them. If I had been shown that there is a fundamental hurdle that cannot be overcome, I would have understood. However, a plausible depiction would have required a series of more scenes that explain the basic character of MC. Two lewd scenes less, but three more everyday scenes that show MC's character more clearly and it would have become clear. But the way it was here, there was sometimes a little frustration.
However, I sincerely hope that MrJet develops another AVN. Especially towards the end you could see that the author was developing strongly in all areas. Both in the graphics and the animations, as well as in storytelling. My main criticisms stem from things that were done wrong very early in the game and then later seemed impossible to correct.
It was his very first work and it was very solid. I have acknowledged the work and paid the author accordingly. Piracy is one thing, fairness towards good work is another. I hope that if MrJet ever reads my review, he understands what I mean. I wanted to offer constructive criticism so that the author could take something away from it. I hope I succeeded. I appreciate the game very much and will certainly play it more often.
Please be fair and support the dev with paying for the game if you can. Even if my review doesn't look like it if you only sees the rating, he deserves it.
