Same thing happening for me here. going from 4 to 5 I think it says talk to Mom, but the event never plays or I'm in the wrong area or something.

We had a look at your saves, we tested with some we have from older versions we could not reproduce the bug neither fix your saves. It seems that you have edited variables in a weird way that caused the game to break.
I have no idea about editing, that's why I asked for the trick for not starting the whole game over from scratch
Honestly we have like a dozen saves from each version, we would be very surprised if what you are saying is true. Here is a save of a guy who had almost finished the game a few updates ago.
