Good steps. If you are a beginner you need to familiarize yourself with stage lighting. Luckily there is a lot of information on the internet. Search for '3 point light Daz' or start with basic stuff like this: :

Light is all about getting a quality render or creating expression in the model. I'm not very proficient with PS and only use light color correction when I feel the need. Keep it up and the results won't be long in coming. Good luck.
