Which games? I have played quite a few but haven't seen any with better writing than this (especially in terms of overall character writing and interactions, this game makes you more invested in the girls stories than any other) Of course the writing is soap opera esque but it fits with the setting and genre imho
The fact of the matter is that ALL entertainment is written. No matter what platform you use, there will always be drama elements in an entertaining story except for pornography. I personally don't know anyone who watches pornography for the story content anyway, hell I only watch porn until my balls are empty and then it's a distant memory.
There are other stories that have pornographic elements that are more steered towards adult entertainment versus catching a quick nut. This game is written in that style. It's supposed to put the player in the shoes of a college freshmen and make it relatively realistic, and in that manner, it's pretty spot on. Character depth is spot on, while there are some other elements of the story that seem to be a bit bland (Madame for one example) there are others that are captivating. DPC may not be the best writer out there, and he's said so himself, but for what he's created here, he's done a bang-up job.
I mean she fucking nailed it. For all we know, she just crawled outta a homeless shelter, but her disarming smile and gorgeous expression has already won the hearts and minds of mcs all over the world.
But Jill... This is the 8th fucking season DPC, the 8th fucking season! Are we to accept that by design, the lovely Jill just looks like a possessed goblinoid whenever we can see her teeth? I mean she is consistently horrendous every time those pearly whites are on display.
Maybe it's time to accept that Jill is an ugly smiler. They exist. I mean she can't be perfect, right? A rich, gorgeous, virginal babe can't be all perfect. In her case the paper bag is only required when she's happy. The good news is, after applying the paper bag she'll probably go back to pouting Jill. I can live with that.
It is a bad thing. Soap operas are worse than reality t.v. Trash television at it's finest. May be good for a porn game(and it really is) but it's not the end all be all that people itt make it out to be. I could name a number of games on this site that are way better written.
I dunno, if you take away all the soap opera elements of the game, what's left? It's all the drama that keeps everyone talking. There is so much more discussion in this thread than any other game on this forum (it has double the comments compared to the next highest thread, and this thread has been purged a number of times).
So yeah, if you don't like the drama, I don't know what about this game lures you in, because I'd say the story (for better or worse) is the strongest draw card here.

I will admit, as a Jill super-fan, and even though I have nearly 2800 screenshots of her (included in a collection of nearly 35,000 total) the only thing I don't like about her is her smile; when she pouts or puts her lips together, or looks worried, I love, but I will agree on that smile.
She looks cute and beautiful many times during the game and after she tells Tybalt off, but the vampire smile afterwards is hard to ignore.
This is gonna throw the discussion real off track but I just recently found out that if you choose to stay as friends on JM route (always chose the throuple), they have some pretty character defining moments. I found out that Josy basically admits to you that she wanted the throuple but was too scared to say it as she didn’t want to lose you or Maya. I was just wondering what scene or episode that’s in.
Sooo... sad or not it doesn't matter... you like the game as you stated... if you like something you don't complain about anything ( minor differences don't warrant complaint ! ) and since you do you are not even sure whether or not you like this game ! Overrated to a ridiculous degree... that might be right might be wrong ! The scene you're talking about is in episode 5 after the prep party when Josy's dad has found her and delivered her suitcase and she takes it to her room. You can choose to follow Maya (because she's looking a little upset for some reason) or help Josy with her bags (because she's hotter than Maya so why wouldn't you help her).
When you go with Josy she starts talking about the whole discussion the three of them had and she starts to admit that while she's happy with Maya, she thinks she'd be happy with the MC too.
That whole discussion is the catalyst that has so many holding out for a Josy solo relationship. Let us hope it is not in vain!

I think this conversation is just for the drama. MС lets Josie go and starts dating other girls. Pink is just trolling us. I just don't understand in what cases Josie can leave Maya and start dating MС on the way Dik. Of course, at the end of episode 8, if you choose Others, he admits that he still loves her, but there is nothing else.

I would say that the characters and the moments (the sexy one, the romance ones, or just the "slice of live" moments), and the sense of humor, are the strongest points of this game in terms of writing. Details like the conversations in Roster, that make you empathize with the characters.
The story... not so much. At a certain degree, I agree with the other user: too much soap opera material for me: highly unlikely coincidences, clichés, great surprises and revelations that in real life would be resolved with simple questions like, for example, "and... what do your parents do for living, Sage?" or "Dad, tell me about my deceased mom´s family"... It´s a bit too much for me. I´m not saying it is bad writing. DPC seems to have the story already structured in his head, and it´s great to see that some tiny detail in the first chapter, suddenly makes sense in the chapter 7 or 8. But is not great writing in terms of story.
But for me, the worst are the far fetched situations that could be realistic with a bit more of work in writing. For example, the way Sage ask the MC to spy on Chad. It´s absurd that Sage thinks that the MC is going to follow Chad all day in disguise or something, and Sage blackmailing the MC with the guitar is out of character when we know some chapters later that Sage is actually a good person.
Since DPC had decided that the MC was going to spy on Chad at the gym, let´s imagine that Sage, instead of telling the MC "Help me spy my boyfriend", tells him "Do you want a free pass for the gym? I´ll pay it for you. My boyfriend Chad spends half of his day at that gym, and I´m sure he brags with his pals there about the bitch he´s cheating on me with. I´ll call you when he´s there, so you go and are my eyes and ears there. Also, if you get me some prove, you will have a special reward. You know, you scratch my back..." It´s a way more realistic situation, IMO.
Then, when the MC finds out that Sage has his guitar, she could complain about how bad person is his boyfriend, that gives her as a gift a stolen guitar, apologize for him and return the MC the guitar. That way the MC would feel empathy for her and have a better reason for helping her than a clumsy attempt of blackmailing. So, Sage would not be portrayed like an awful person, since just a few days after (into the game) she´s going to reveal herself like an excellent person that helps the MC, and then Maya.
It´s just an example. Wouldn´t that be a more plausible and less cartoonesque situation? And it´s just a bit more work in the dialogues...
OK, this is my first tier ranking. I think this is pretty much how I see them, both within the game, and just visually. That other teir list prompted me to make this one, since I wondered just how difficult it was to decided. Turned out, it's very basic to do an acceptable tier list...
