the real oddity in the whole story is actually Sage.

it is enough to refuse to teach her to play the guitar (it seems to me in the second chapter) to make her practically disappear. a really sensitive girl who understands that no means no.

sincerely that we continue to have interactions with people we know in college is normal, and it is also credible that a story that is closed for us is not immediately closed for them
Although if you think about how Sage behaves towards the mc in the Tybalt's room, if he actually tried not to be involved with her, reluctantly helped her with Chad in order to get his guitar back, denied all her advances and chose not to teach her guitar, it's strange she's still interested in him.

The funniest thing of all is how much we all read into things, I'm sure DPC reads comments from these kinds of stories and is like, "um yeah.. that's totally what I meant there..."

Which is even more bizarre when you consider that only patrons have acess to the chat.

Seriously this D&G scene seems like the kind of thing that happens when you don't set clear goals before starting the production.
How many days or weeks did drpinkcake wasted turning something that was a running gag from a previous episode into a longer segment where literally nothing happens character and plot wise?
Maybe DPC needs that to makes his game longer, with more episode... I never see a film or a serie who show the hero, the bad guy, the victim and five minutes later : the end... That will be a very short story, don't you think ?
We can't always be in the action, MC need a moment of fun even release the pressure. We have lots of dark moments (Quinn, Sage, Mona, Cathy/Rusty, Maya's father previous...), sex moments (Bella, Quinn, Sarah, Jade, M&J, Nicole&Sandy) so some light and fun moment are good too.

but Sage's behavior would also be acceptable and credible, only it is completely different from that of the other LIs (Bella is similar to Sage).

with Jill and Maya you have countless opportunities to treat them badly (sometimes really roughly), but nevertheless you will always be important to both of them.

Neither of them was really his girlfriend, he messed around with both of them and they ended up with each other rather than him. I think heinous is way overstating it, but awkward for sure.
No I totally disagree. Neither one was actually his girlfriend, but they both lead him by the nose (or another appendage) to believe that it could be, just as a crutch to their fragile emotions, and then coldly dropped him. The question no one has answered is why would any self respecting young man, who's otherwise very popular on campus, have anything to do with either of them. And the answer of course is because the plot calls for him too, which vividly illustrates what a badly written story this is.

But I tried already with 6.1 full version and the same issue
Have you tried running the older version again and checked if the save still work there?

If it does... make a new manual save.

and copy only the new manual save to the save folder of the newest version(full).

If it doesn't work in even the older version you used to run,
you'll likely been unlucky to get your save corrupted in one way or another..

(I had to do this with a different VN at some point.)

in real life I've seen worse ...

the mistake is the haste with which they pass from "betrayal" to friendship, but not only MC, also the girls among them.

frankly the only forced friendship is the one with Josy, if we consider it as a sincere friendship and not as a hope of reopening something. it was her summer crush, but they haven't had any real relationships, they basically don't know each other.

with Maya is believable, they were roommates, MC was involved in Maya's difficulties with both the HOTs and her father, there is still Derek who acts as a bridge between the two, so it is credible there is a basis for friendship (not so immediate though)

I tried full version with the old saved files but there is the same error. I can load and use the old saves but the josy_chat error is there.

No, sorry I disagree with that too. I don't find the Maya situation believable at all. She act's like the perfect little damsel from the start, and like an idiot the MC falls for it, but after the reveal and the library scene it's painfully obvious that she never cared for him. What's the basis for any kind of friendship there? Does the MC enjoy being a doormat? It makes zero sense. The entire relationship is strictly plot driven.

please don't make me defend chapter 4 ending ....

however, as you say, MC believes her and if he believes her he forgives her

to give you an example if MC is DIK, after the grinding he can treat Maya very badly when he finds her in the dormitory, yet in the dialogues he forgives her anyway.

once he forgives her they can also be friends

we may not have remained friends, but MC did, and this is his story

Not sure what's up with that, as I've never had that issue, sorry...
I'm wondering if you may have to re-download. In case for some reason your download corrupted.
Usually a corrupted archive will give errors when unpacking though. *shrugs*

Make sure you've download the latest, zip-archive file.. I just downloaded from both anonfile, and uploadheaven, to test..
(dropmefiles link wasn't working for me, files removed) I use 7zip to unpack archives.
To iron out filestructure issues, I suggest unpacking as close to root as possible;
ex: x:\VN\*** <--- final folder before the one with the executable, \game, \lib, and \renpy folders.

Anyways.. on both the versions from anonfile, and uploadhaven, I was able to load up my previous saves.
and skip through episode 6 no props.

What I always do myself every update, is play to the end, then roll back, and manual save just before the summary.
Load that save on next update. And so on.

I always use the full version downloads, and then load up the manual save in next game version..

If you're able to... Start up version 5.1 make a save before the end of episode summary.. (if still got a copy around)

Load that save in 6.1.

See if that helps..

Otherwise, if you select "skip unseen text" in preferences, you can pretty much go through a new playthrough in matter of about half an hour, if wanna test further. (to figure if it's a save, or game issue)

Otherwise I'm out of ideas man.. :/

I think both girls come across as nice people, they just made some mistakes in love (and so did the MC by involving himself in both of them at the same time). This hang up of being "cucked" seems to have distorted a lot of people’s understanding of what went wrong here.

Maya was confused (she’s not normally attracted to boys), sad (her long distant relationship was going south) and inexperienced. Josy was also unhappy due to her long distant relationship failing, as well as feeling that the Maya's stupid, interfering father could be an issue in the relationship for who knows how long anyway. They met the MC, went from friends to something a bit more very quickly, and then suddenly it got complicated. Shit happens, especially when emotions are involved.

When the two girls reunited they had a difficult decision to make, going for a long term "throuple" is fraught with danger, normal relationships fail all the time, three people trying to make it work is very unlikely, and the entire discussion and reasoning in the library was just how scared they were to try something like that and screw it up completely. It's a porn game, so we're all thinking, "Yah! Threesome!" only to be told, sorry bud, but us girls don't think this is going to work. A lot of porn game playing Joes (who don't expect rejection and thought it was about the be payoff time) got their noses seriously out of joint, "how dare you cuck me bitches!"...

If the MC is emotionally mature enough to understand what happen and still be friends, that's admirable. If he's hoping to stick around to maybe rekindle the previous relationship, that could be misguided (since if that happens it'd be on the rebound, kinda where he found both girls in the first place).

But it's a porn game, and if you played your cards right, you got your threesome (or maybe you should have just held out for Mel and Sarah).

No I think you are missing my point. Why would the MC be friends with Josy or Maya? It makes no logical sense that MC would, unless we are to believe that he is someone who enjoys being used. Everytime I ask this question the response is always the same, because the MC choose's to. I'm asking what's his motivation?
