This was supposed to be a smaller episode than ep 9...yeah right :ROFLMAO:

If same thing happens in this episode - bunch of animations and shit no one really asked for, he shouldn't be so surprised that his fanbase turns on him. Then he will throw a fit and bitch to people just like he did after ep9.

I applaud hit work ethic but he is his own biggest enemy.

already the previews of the ninth chapter had been completely neutered, only one preview telling something unusual and it was a joke :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

so for you the ninth chapter was the best chapter of BADIK? because DPC tried to argue this, in case good for you, likely the tenth will be even better
No, it was good but not the best. Ep. 7-8 is dope for me.

In fact, we should be grateful. Yes, grateful for these wonderful animations, which are an example of high-level art. Remembering that great thing, an Oscar-worthy animation - an unforgettable Arieth bus ride (the role of the bus driver is especially good. I doubt Marlon Brando would have done better), my heart sinks with anticipation of a new extraordinary masterpiece that the Great Master is preparing for us.

I honestly think that direction is pretty much a dead-end for the gaming industry. By now there are only very few real AAA publisher left, with Activision/Blizzard becoming part of MS soon, we're very much start to look at an oligopoly that in turn are releasing less and less AAA games each year, while more and more smaller indie titles become very successful and profitable.

We will have to see, in which direction VNs go, but I think AI will change a lot in the coming years. Soon they might not even need to traditionally render their screens anymore. A rough sketch might be enough and an AI does most of the rest for example.
Major AAA producers won't touch VNs:
  • VNs are pretty much a successors of old adventure games, which were always a niche to begin with
  • Low replay value, making VNs hard to sell (and perpetually monetize)
  • Difficult monetization via microtransactions (what would people buy)
  • You have to work on a story which is way harder than reselling CoD for the 15th time.
  • Adult VN might be a PR headache. Sex tends to be sensitive topic.

So adult VNs will be developed mainly by small/indie studios/devs. AI won't be used until it's decent and affordable AND the provider is OK with the AI being used for sex game (might be an issue, see PR headache above).

Yeah...that was not even remotely the point anyone was making here...

Still it is not a real art
That depends how and what you're using. In my example the developer would give the AI guidelines of what he needs and would polish the render after the AI did the main amount of the work.

Thank you for your optimism, kind man. After many comments today, it seems to me that September is not so bad.
I think chapter 10 is definitely going to be bigger in scope than the entire first season and considering it has mini-games, some great fics, plot scenes, lots of branching seems like it's really going to be a great chapter. I like episode 9, but it completely loses all meaning after 2-3 playthroughs. I certainly don't want to believe in a September release, but if DPC is going to give us a whole season's worth of content every year we'll have to put up with it.

Remember he often praised Ep. 9 before release during development? Then the episode was not liked by everyone.
pretty sure thats cause he knew it wasnt going to be well received based on the expectations everyone had after such an insanely long wait

DPC hyped the hell out of episode 9. You would have thought a new season of GOT was being released with the amount of hype he was spewing. It ended up being a colossal disappointment. I was sitting there thinking "This is it? This is what I waited over a year for? I took a day off from work for this?"

It's sad that it was a disappointment for you, as well as for some. I already told felice that I liked the episode, but it's not one of my favorites, I like Ep 7 and 8 more.
My main criticism:
1. Too little scenery, this episode lacked variety. Almost all events take place at the DIK party. I felt locked in.
2. Little progress on the script.
3. Visual flaws. (Such as chrome teeth for example. I know that these are reflections in DAZ, can be fixed in Ps) But post-processing takes more time, no one wants it to be delayed for another month or two.

I really wonder what will take shorter developement time. Next Cyberpunk game or the last episode of the last season powered by 6090s

It's just like movies, I was not around much during the development so I missed the hype, and I liked the episode x)

1. I took it as a theme and didn't mind it that much, provided it's one time thing. Maybe it would have been better to move the retrospective parts before the party (it might feel a bit better)?
2. My biggest issue would be the script but not because of the lack of progress. I didn't like MC's handling of Zoey's return and the nail in the coffin was Vinny.
3. I haven't noticed the chrome teeth. Speaking of which, for me it were Jill's smiles. It seems that she has a passable smile unless she shows her teeth.

DPC likes the episodes for different reasons than many players do. DPC likes being able to show off cinematic features, such as long animations and new lighting effects, for example. He's proud of new minigames. All of those elements are awesome, but they're not what draw most players to the game. I mean, I wouldn't expect DPC to say he fapped really hard at a new Jill scene or that a new lewd scene with Quinn is going to make us rock hard. That's not how he operates.

Having said that, I thought episode 9 was great. My only real disappointment was that because almost all of the episode was the Halloween party, there wasn't as much variety between playthroughs as we typically see in other episodes.

Man follows his vision completely and 12-13 thousand patrons + top 250 during Steam release is proof that he is basically doing the right thing. Some people are always disappointed with something and that's okay, it's impossible to please absolutely everyone.

Yeah that's the main problem, episodes should have a change of scenery like school/campus/outside etc, it was lacking a bit here also the fact that it all takes place during one night (with a few flashbacks) give us a (sometimes) false impression of stagnation.

There was a lot of character development tho, we got to see other sides of LIs and even side girls (Great episode for Riona, Lily, Nicole, Zoey)

The DPC humor was still there and we also got our villain :KEK:

My biggest criticism of Episode 9 is how repetitive the free roam is when you're playing multiple paths. The same tasks need to be completed on every play through, so after you've figured it out once it becomes tedious to go through the motions every time to see what little path specific content there is.

I think it will shake out pretty well as part of the bigger picture when you're playing one path from beginning to end, but as an isolated episode it was pretty lackluster for a lot of people.
