Maybe shy is not the right word.
During the night at Bella's house she says that things are going too fast for her and then she has doubts if she did the right thing. Even when Bella asks her about her date her face blushes. She is much less straight forward than some other girls. That was my point.
Remember her 3 date rule. Not wanting to sleep with someone after only their 1st date isn't shy or reserved. It's having standards. She probably blushes about the date because she peeked at the MC, he touched her breast, and they ,potentially, kissed while only wearing towels. She feels uncomfortable because they crossed a line she wasn't ready to cross.

Or maybe just naive enough to be too trusting?

but it cannot be said that she has trouble trusting.
and at the beginning, apart from instinct, she didin't have all these reasons to trust MC

Bella's first impression wasmore correct, more realistic

True. I completely forgot that scene happened though it is a porn game. So DPC maybe wanted to give her some kind of sexy scene since she is a main love interest and had none at that point.
I'm pretty sure that DPC wanted to offer us this beautiful show. After five episodes, it was the only time we could see her in a slightly more intimate outfit (if you're on a DIK route at least)

Yeah. apart from the shower scene and the special renders I don't think Jill has ever been shown naked at all.

"HER" last name. You don't remember the bench scene after the tennis game? She lit up with joy when she finds out the mc doesn't know about her last name or past or anything. And that he assumes she's got money but that's it. So it's not the money either that's a deciding factor for her to trust someone. Partly it's definitely a change of pace for her, but mostly because she has something she's ashamed of possibly and now that she knows he's not like the rest, she tenses up in her conversations with him. The "early" shower scene destroys that entire feeling. It's just not real.
sorry for my english:(

I understand your reasoning, and I find it correct

but I still don't understand the importance Jill gives to her surname

a rich girl can be wary of those who approach her, why does being also a Royce weigh so much on her?

She's afraid that the MC will like her for who she is and who her family is (name wise) rather than who she is as a person.

Whatever it is it has something to do with the Burgerking-whatever family. I don't want to bring up that topic but there might be some, "things that shall not be named--for the sake of some people dreading the " I " word" in the mix somewhere. Despite drpinkass saying otherwise. These royal families have secrets and they are often dark. Maybe they are drug lords.

Poor Burgmeister.
Despite that the fact that they could be a dealer family wouldn't change much or maybe a connection to Quinn's business, it's an interesting theory

I'm having a more difficult time reading into Tommy, is it? That guy throws me off the trail real quick. He has this hush-hush deal with Quinn, then the next minute doesn't want any part of it--then they are hanging out again.

Tommy is a very tough person and often thinks only for him, but it is true that sometimes he seems almost bipolar to me. However it is clear that at the end of episode 5 he is clearly enraged against Quinn so I do not know how will happen the following events

Maybe it was the bully thing that made her lower her guard.
I've stopped a bully before for a guy at my school, and he was embarrassed and didn't want to talk to me. So idk, but I wouldn't let my standards go for that. It's not enough cause. There are always two sides to a story.

Nah, I don't agree with you. ^^
Those aren't her rules. She mentions "those unspoken rules" and says she's uncomfortable with them.
She also says that she feels comfortable around the MC because Bella likes him, too and that she hasn't had many dates so far.
Her dates were "kind of forced" and have been a while back.
This increases my impression that she just wants to take it slow, because she hasn't had much experience in such situations and maybe never has been on a date with a boy she really liked.

Or maybe this is the first time she has been on dates with a boy who likes her just for her rather than who her family is?

Two people don't have to react the same way to the same things. But Jill seems to come from a background of bulling herself, that may have made her more sympathetic to it (and it wasn't the first time she saw it happen to him). Bella said as much to Jill: "I understand you, considering where you come from".

I think so too. I know from personal experience, it's not easy to just let yourself go. And in Jillian's case, she holds her standards a bit high. Then again, she let a stranger touch her boobs on the first date. We'll see. I'm rooting for her. Josy, maybe. I never went that route to sleep with Derek at that choice so I don't know what's over there as far as story.
