Our MC is basically unlikable in my opinion. This makes the entire experience somewhat less enjoyable, but it is what it is. The music is great, the renders and animations are great. The writing overall is not that great but our wingman is great, very much on par with Liam from AL..
Maya gets a raw deal. Writing stinks and she really should be my number one...
Josy gets a semi raw deal. See above....
Bella is a goddess and will have my undying love, until she kills me or some such. (due to poor writing)
Sage is also a goddess whom I adore, and am happy to be her next codependent lover (well first really since Chad was really gay.)

100% Rusty and like stated above I would help it happen. Jill does almost nothing for me. We would make a very poor match as the MC is currently written.

Agreed that it feels like Jill is intended to be with Rusty as a common ending if the MC can continue to help Rusty become a better man.
Maya and Josy deserve their happy ending.
Bella deserves to be reconciled with her husband, or otherwise find a more mature pairing.
That leaves Sage or KRJ as the only suitable partners for MC!

This is my biggest issue with this game. You can shape the character somewhat, and it seems like he's your character but all of a sudden Pinkcakes makes him do whatever he wants even if it's OOC, like running away from Sage.
I also love the MC telling everybody that it's time to grow up and stop relying on daddy, and then daddy comes and furnishes our house for us.
It's the nature of these games I guess though it's not unique to DIK, I don't think there is a relatable MC they're all cunts.

I reckon Tybolt has blown his chances with Jill. By forcing her hand with the blackmail, he's only pushed her interest further away. She even laughs along with Josy at TYbolt prosthetic teeth being knock out!
Rusty, he definitely made a bad first impression, I mean he should have at least read Romeo and Juliet! And although we didn't see it, we got the second hand story from Jill that they did have a date and he blew that too.
But the new and improved Rusty definitely seems Jill's type, even more so that the mc. So I'm gonna say Rusty.
I do wonder if all the "shipping" motherfuckers will get their day. When DPC's magnum opus finally comes to an end, will we get an epilogue coving every single character, LIs and others. That'd be cool. Of course not every one of them should be paired off, just generally how did they fair at college and what direction did it point them onto in life.
Unlikeable visually, or through his actions?
Visually he's pretty much on par with all the other weird looking mc's out there, and his actions, depending on your style of play, I thought he was more or less an ok dude.
One thing that I find typical in most of these games, is the mc is usually just a shell. He doesn't usually have too much of a personality, that way you can imagine your own preference there. In the games where they make the mc more aggressive, he almost always comes across as an asshole, but if they make him too nice, he comes off as a pushover.
It's rare (as in I've never seen it) that the mc is given a strong, positive personality. Maybe a backstory event that provides a strong emotional link to the mc would be useful (and the mc's sob story to Bella didn't really cut it), but that'd need to come up early on in the game at the risk of losing an audience that are there primarily for the porn.
CoBD probably does it better, but then really the mc is such a cliche, typical film noir character (DA took that to the extreme).

Definitely very close to hitting it on the head.
There are a few main characters that I think are likable, and those are the games I like the best.
A far worse offender than DPC though has to be ICSTOR with his fucked up MC. Just saying.
It would be asking a great deal from someone like DPC who has demonstrated his control freak nature in AL and here, to actually let the MC make choices that really matter, and to really control who we pursue. It just seems like it would be against his very nature.

That part made me think, if today (bah in BADIK's present) Jill is hyper naive and her dates are barely funny, what would it have been like 2 years ago, when she admits she accepted on insistence? Could it be that Rusty really got bored and fed up to the point of having to "escape" with his friends?
I don't see any of the DIKs blocking a brother, not even Tommy ....
Hey, they're not all like that! The one from Depraved Awakening and Acting Lessons for example are good decent MCs provided you don't make them act like assholes.
As for our MC...well, "cunt" can be a little extreme, but yeah, sometimes, I just can't sympathize with MC.
* When explaining his backstory with Zoey (or whatever his ex gf was called), dude literally continued to beat the guy he fought right after he already floored him, and yet to this day, he still thinks his punishment was unfair
* He storms out of Maya's dorm and spends much of episode 4 sulking after finding out that her and Josy are girlfriends, nevermind the fact that he was dating both of them and possibly sleeping around with other girls, all without any option to stay and talk things out right then and there. Granted, Maya has a part of responsibility for leading him on at first, but Josy has told him from day one that she was in a relationship.
* And...yeah, the rebound guy thing is dumb on the DIK path. They've been literally fucking each other as soon as Sage because she was suspecting that Chad was cheating on her, and it's now that they broke up that you worry that she might be seeing you as the rebound guy?
He's still not as much of an asshole as most MCs at least. Even the DIK version of the character has plenty of nice moments with other characters outside of our choices, and even when he goes through the phases we mentioned, he thankfully grows out of them rather quickly, so there is that.

Nah, I hated the mc in AL. He was a cry baby old man who went total fucking bonkers because someone died. The whole game felt creepy to me, an old man chasing tail ~20 years younger than him... Good luck to him and all, but he can fuck off as far as I'm concerned.
At least the mc in BaDIK even cracks jokes about his dead mom.
That's how you handle grief! replaying the game and jill totally knows that there is something going on between mc and bella.
