I don't get it.
The writer has told us about heaps of things. There's so many unknown details, does the existence of unknown details as well as the existence of the mc's dead mom backstory have to all be linked?
Why is Jill's sister's story somehow inexplicably linked to the mc's dead mom? Because they are both dead? We now know they aren't one in the same person (a lot of us knew that from the start but there were plenty of stubborn people that would not accept it), so basically it's just unrelated information.
The backstories are relevant in their own context, but there's no obvious link to each other. It's definitely not "Chekhov's Gun". If that's how "Chekhov's Gun" was to be interpreted, it would mean every loose end must be all interrelated because the writer wrote it:
- We've been told about Maya's dad - maybe he's Lynette's brother...
- We randomly met Nora in a pub - maybe she's Lynette's sister...
- We've been given vague information about Sage's parents - maybe Lynette's not dead and she's Sage's mom...
- We've been told that Bella inherited her home from wealthy parents - maybe she's actually Lynette after faking her death and having a face lift...
- We haven't blatantly seen Quinn's mom (I believe we have but it's debateable) - maybe Lynette was living a double life and she's Quinn's mom too...
- Who's sending incriminating photos to the Jocks? - Maybe it's Lynette's ghost...
- What's behind Bella's locked door? - Maybe it's something to do with Lynette...
- Who was skulking outside the MC's room in episode 6? - Maybe Lynette isn't dead and she's stalking the mc...
- Who trashed the DIKs mansion? - Maybe it was Lynette trying to get the mc's attention...
- How did Lana die? - Maybe she and Lynette were friends Lana committed suicide when Lynette died giving birth to the mc...
- Who is the Madame? - Maybe it's Lynette's mom fallen on hard times (since the Madame looks like an old hag)...
- Jill's sister Lana was mentioned, the mc's mom Lynette was mentioned - maybe they are intertwined somehow...

The absolute misconception here is that DPC ever suggested that there could be some kind of link.
It's only people on this thread that continuously believe there was a link and propagate that theory until people think it is real. There's nothing in the story that suggests there's a link at all.
First some people were 100% convinced that Jill's dead sister was the mc's mom. Why? Because they both died young and they both came from wealthy families. Too bad people kept providing plenty of evidence to the contrary, but those "Aunt Jill" theorists would not let up.
Now we find out for a fact that they are two separate people, and instead of saying, "Fuck, we were definitely barking up the wrong tree with that theory", these crazy doomsday theorists just change the date of Judgement Day, rather than realise they are totally fucking wrong.
It's not impossible that Lynette was somehow known to Bella or Jill's sister, just like it's not impossible for a lot of other substantiated, currently not even remotely alluded to outcomes could be true, but it's not Chekhov's Gun, not even remotely. If you listen carefully you can hear Anton Chekhov turning in his grave right now at the blatant misuse of his theory.

You're definitely right, but if a game choice like that makes a huge difference (as far as getting the "good" content, or rather, missing out on it) then that's the kind of thing that annoys me about BaDIK's story branch logic. We have no indication what the correct choice should be. We just don't know enough about the concert, the audience, or even Jill at that point in the game. It would be worse than the Bella-canceling choice to have dumbass forgetful Cathy spit polish you in the car because at least with that situation you know any time you pursue more than one girl (M/J aside), DPC isn't going to like it. He will punish you eventually, but this trait of his has been clearly established by now. If you're going to make a branching choice that could potentially hide desired outcomes (heh) in an AVN, then there needs to be enough information to make an informed decision.

What if Neil wasn't even there at the birth?
Here it comes. Lynette faints during the birthing process. She gives birth to discordant twins. Lynette's father tells Neil that Lynette has died. Neil logically wants to have his child with him. Custody suit. Since they are twins, the father gives Neil the MC. To Lynette, the father says that Neil died in a construction accident and that unfortunately one twin did not survive.
One day in the distant future (19 years later) two guys face each other in the ring, ready to give everything for the victory. In the gym, of course, sit the spectators. All of a sudden, Lynette discovers Neil and Neil discovers Lynette. "Dad said you were dead." "Your father told me you died giving birth to our son". They look back to the ring and cheer for their son. Neil calls out "MC" and Lynette calls out "Caleb." Oops.

Chekhov's gun means that an author should not introduce superfluous elements into a story. If Jill's sister is not related with the MC, why the author is talking us about her in the first place? Why to introduce ANOTHER death character into the plot, if that character is not going to be relevant for the plot? And remember: the plot is about the MC. He´s the center of the game: Main Character. Not Jill. Jill`s story is only relevant if affects the MC.

Ok... You've somehow convinced yourself that Jill's sister has to be related to the mc and now everything else needs to support that.
Why does Lana need to be related to the mc? With your logic, why has any character been introduced into the game if they aren't related to the mc?
Jill is involved with the mc. Jill's sister further fleshes out Jill's character (her experience growing up, her rebellious sister, her sister's death, her strict parents, the expectations that Jill feels are forced on her). It's got fuck all to do with the mc other than the mc likes Jill.
You incorrectly linked Jill's sister with the mc's mom and now you can't let it go. Why didn't you link any other character with the mc's mom? There's no evidence of anyone being linked to the mc's mom other than the mc's dad and the mc (and the mc's parents).
James, Bella's (ex)husband: Why is the author talking to us about him if he's not related to the mc? He must be related to Lynette somehow? Why? No good reason at all. James expands Bella's character just as Lana expands Jill's character.
Lana's association with Lynette is just a crazy leap a lot of people made against all the evidence and now you seem to think it's the only reason Lana exists in the story. You're wrong.
Can you explain to me, with actual logic (and evidence if you can find it), why Lana has to be related to the mc but James does not? I mean think about it, realise they are examples of the same thing (backstories of characters the mc likes) and then realise characters' backstories don't have to tie in with the mc's family...

If you're on Jill's path, then Jill's story affects the MC, and Lana's story IS Jill's story. She's not superfluous.
Adding back stories adds depth to the characters. This would be a completely different and much lower quality game if all the characters except the MC possessed purely superficial personalities.
