That's a good point, and I admit it is a thorny issue. On the one hand I do understand how people feel uncomfortable with the situation. But my main concern is the quality of AVN's. I want to see us come to a place where there are many well written AVN's available, where the market isn't flooded with simplistic or shallow stories. NTR hysteria is a major stumbling block to reaching that goal.

I think lack of talent and skills for creative writing are the reasons for that low quality in AVNs. For example, why so many AVN resort to a MC with superpowers of mind control, or things like sleeping sex or sex under blackmailing? Because for a writer is difficult to create and write dialogues for an attractive MC capable of seducing women the traditional way: being charming and having a witty, pleasant conversation. It´s easier to create a MC that just uses magic to get laid or some other cheap trick like that.

I don´t thin that "NTR hysteria" is a major issue. 90% of AVNs would be equally simplistic and shallow without it too.

MC is "even" with her, to use her words. you could also reject her initiative to make out (who are you kidding). but no guitar lessons, no deeper interactions in season 1?

you can deny her in first session (again, no kidding); but gal just straight up beat MC's meat in second one and started sexy time, no alternative. so MC is kinda a support (material or whatever you call it) during her time of frustration and through which they sure bonded in a way.

Yes, I know all of that. The discussion was about the LI's personalities, not the game mechanics. My point was that both Sage and Bella offer to let you stay in their room/house whereas Maya only let's you stay after Derek calls in a favor. This example was one of many I gave to support my argument that Maya is essentially a selfish character.

Oh I agree about the lack of talent. But can you think of any game, in the hundreds and hundreds posted on this site, where the MC has to compete with a competent rival to win the LI? I'm not talking about those games where NTR is the focus, in most of those games the MC IS the Tybalt. But what we never see is an MC that has to outmaneuver an actual rival to win the hand of the LI. In fact in most of these games, even the most well written, the LI's just seem to fall onto the MC's cock, it's so easy to get the girl. Or you have to run a contrived maze of artificial roadblocks to get there.

and you just didn't notice or ignored the fact that they are in different stage of relationship; MC has already done a lot for Sage and they're really get along, so Sage would be more readily to say yes. and it would be a weak comparison hence not a strong argument?

It doesn't change the social instinct of the character as written. As I demonstrated before Maya's first instinct is always to care for herself, the Sage example was just one of many to contrast her behavior.

If you don´t know how to write an attractive MC... how would you be able to write a competent rival?
Aboiut BaDIK, it´s not the case. Tremolo has some fun and witty dialogues, so DPC knows how to write a good character. I think that cartoonish rivals are a convention of the genre, like magic cocks and female bi eager to engage in a threesome everywhere. And also, laziness. Again, it´s easier to write a Tybalt than a professor Moriarty.

Usually the MC is the only decent guy in history. Or worse the only guy. Or the story makes it so that other guys don't see the same girls too much.

Do not despair, the story takes more and more space in this type of game, and I hope that soon the porn part will be incidental.

It reminds me of Eva Kiss who is going to reboot a character from ORS to make him a decent guy. So in the game we won't only have Ian as a good guy, and the rest a bunch of bastards or weirdo.

Sage never ask the MC for sexual favors before allowing him to stay. It may be a game condition that they are fuckbuddies, but there's no quid pro quo from the character. And despite Sage's so called anger issues she is awakened in the middle of the night and still offers the MC a place to stay when she understands that he feels like he has nowhere else to go.

Also, despite the MC stating several times that he doesn't want to discuss the matter, Maya pushes it in public and in the middle of class, it's almost discussion rape. As for the tears? Tears from a woman in the middle of an argument are nothing but manipulation. Women know how effective of a tool tears are and use them remorselessly.

No, in Episode 3 Sage will ask the MC point blank if he's only interested in teaching her guitar. If he says yes, she kicks him out and will not offer the MC a room during the Maya/Josy crisis. And that's AFTER the MC overheard Sage say she might have let Chad stay with her if he was willing to do his boyfriend duties, so it's not like I'm pulling the implication out of thin air.

Basically, if Sage can hide behind gameplay as a defense, why can't Maya?

Yes and that's another thing in proving Maya's selfishness. After MC is sexually assaulted, tased and kidnapped the first thing Maya says is 'will you help me' or words to that effect. She doesn't express any concern or remorse until called out on it. It's her first impulse or instinct to think of herself, even in a situation where she should be embarrassed or remorseful.

Ah, I see. When Maya wants to apologize for her behavior in public, it's discussion rape. When she wants to be discrete and handle the matter at hand before apologizing, she's selfish.

Like I said, sometimes I think you carry it too far. There's no question Maya can be self-centered, but that's not unique to her.
