Quinn makes it pretty specific what she's offering in Ep1, MC would have to be pretty dense to not catch on to what's happening*. If MC is giving guitar lessons to Sage they've become pretty good friends and as president of the HOT's it's an issue that definately would be of concern to Sage. So I do think it is pretty weird that MC wouldn't pass this information on.

It's like the stupidly vague warning that MC gives Maya about Quinn.

* That's not to say that arguing that MC IS pretty dense would be totally out of line. DPC seems to have some talent for writing clueless characters.
Though MC definitely takes the cake when it comes to the most clueless characters.
If the mc doesn't accept her offer, the journal log identifies it specifically as "sexual favours", so he knows. But once again, by the time the mc has developed a good friendship with Sage, so much other shit is going down that the restaurant is just water the bridge.

I'll pay the vague warning to Maya though. That was totally ridiculous. You don't say someone is "evil" and then completely fail to qualify it (once again, if he was getting takeout he might be worried that Maya would think he was a pervert, but if he wasn't partaking, he should have told her outright).

Negative. The pathing is just stupid. I've done everything for Jill. She doesn't give a shit that I have permanent DIK status. I helped her at the recital did everything properly, but DrPinkCake seems to think I can't choose someone who I'm obviously interested in and she in me when sitting down at the table. All because of my "Status". It makes no sense. If being a huge DIK was a problem there should be scenes where the girl tells you they aren't interested instead of me having to break something off even though I don't want to. He has it backwards.
Unfortunately, that's just the way the Affinity system is designed. It doesn't make logical sense, it purely a surface level morality meter: DIK=Sex Fiend, CHICK=Sensitve Guy. Obviously, Jill wouldn't be comfortable settling down with a sex fiend, so naturally that relationship is doomed. Trivial facts like Jill not knowing about all the MC's bedpost notches (or even the MC not actually being a sex fiend in the first place) are beside the point. The system is theatre, not science.

This is further compounded by the way DPC despises metagaming, and thus obscures the actual triggers based on the Affinity system as much as possible. So rather than have Jill articulate specific misgivings over the MC's Major DIK Decisions (for example, his reeking of alcohol after partying without limits at the Pink Rose, or expressing genuine horror if he punched Tybalt), she will just mention that "something doesn't feel right" and then not invite him to meet her friends.

Meanwhile, Jill will offer reactions to all sorts of stimuli that aren't necessarily indicative of what truly matters, just in case the waters weren't muddy enough already. She has a near meltdown over people recognizing the MC's dick pic (which is no big deal in picking her branch); she treats the Tybalt punch as a minor infraction (when it's 1/11 of the way to DIK Affinity); she passively accepts the MC tending to Sage instead of her picnic (even though it is an autofail condition for some reason).

This is why I think the game is far better with a walkthrough. Once we can see past the fluff and can understand what DPC is thinking, it's much easier to work out where we stand. Then the Affinity system becomes a more manageable problem that helps us envision the game DPC was trying to make.

but even if he is a customer of the restaurant, he should at least have some sense of guilt, instead he simply pretends not to do anything.

with MC we can know what he's thinking, the complete silence about Quinn (of course especially if he's not in a relationship with her) is deafening.
Eh, we often don't really know what the MC is thinking - or more precisely, why the MC is thinking that specific thought and not one of the many other potential thoughts he arguably should be thinking. It's just another way DPC tries to keep us on the rails without tipping his hand. Hence the MC can be worried that Quinn would use Maya the way she uses Camilla, but will still be able to claim he didn't have any reason to mention Quinn's vice racket to his BFF Sage in the subsequent month(s).

One more reply. I don't think you guys are getting just how big a thing it is for a woman to find out that you fucked her Mother. You just can't imagine the powerful cosmic forces that are released by such an act.

Now as your homework assignment I want all of you to go out and fuck your girlfriend/wives Mom. If you are still alive next week you'll understand.
Sorry, too busy preparing for the holiday, no time to find a girlfriend and seduce her mother. But I have seen "The Graduate," so I submit that your thesis is disproven in fiction - which is probably the better metric for DPC. ;)

In all... huh, seriousness doesn't fit this sort of debate but let's go with it. In all seriousness, I think it's *possible* that the MC's relationship with Sage might survive her learning about Jade, but it sure as hell wouldn't be forgone conclusion. It would depend on exactly how she learns the truth, how long the MC and Sage have been together then, and how the MC responds to the revelation.

And if the MC tries the "you said you didn't care if I fucked other girls" line, I don't think anyone will ever find his body.

When you "hit someone up", you go to see them, or contact them. "Hitting them up" is not to be confused with "hitting them upside the head"...

Dude1: "I'll hit you up tomorrow dude."
Dude2: "Great, I'll see you then dude."

Similarly, to "hit the town" is to go to town, and do shit (I'm not talking about taking a dump on Main St).

So to "hit things up", is to go out and do stuff.

It's not hard to understand, but it does come across as a bastardisation of more common sayings.
Yeah, as a native (american) English speaker I have heard that phrase before, but it's not very common. I've no idea what it's etymology is.

I reckon "Intertwined" does a decent job of really serious branching. It's almost like playing a different game depending on which girl you end up with. Of course it's a lot shorter than BaDIK, but it's only been around half the time.
Honestly, I think Intertwined uses a similar approach to BaDIK. Intertwined uses the various +RP points to gate most of the branching while BaDIK uses discrete decisions, but both have a default story that involves a bunch of seemingly unrelated girls the MC can choose to involve himself with. The main difference is that all the main LI's in BaDIK are plot bearing, and thus they can't be dropped out of the narrative if the MC turns them down (as opposed to the way Alexis in Intertwined vanishes almost without a trace if you refuse to sleep with her).

As a result, BaDIK lets you stay on all the main LI paths until the crossroads in Episode 8 and see nearly all their content in a single run, whereas Intertwined will only show you certain snippets based on your scores. And if you thought the Affinity system was an opaque mess, trying to work out the triggers for Intertwined's pathing will make you head asplode (not helped by the relative scarcity of good walkthroughs for that game).

I am curious to see how BaDIK handles unchosen LIs in the various branches in Season 3.

My fear is they will all still remain good friends in spite of how they've been treated:
  • Bella accepts it's the right thing to do, but she's hurt (unless she's the one who ends it, but ultimately it's the same result).
  • M&J somewhat amicably dumped the mc way back, after which their friendship was never stronger, so when he dumps them, I'm sure they'll bounce back with each other.
  • Jill ends their relationship humiliatingly in public, while he begs for a second chance, all while decreeing (not asking) "And you'll be my friend...", after which the mc was like, "Yeah, I deserved that". All because he saw his sick friend... separate rant here.
  • Sage is like, "Cool, maybe we'll hook up later, but I won't wait for you (but I will)".
It's funny because it's Jade who takes the breakup hard, when all along she's doing it to fuck with Stephen and it's so blatantly a doomed relationship.

was disappointed at how reasonably sage reacted to being rejected three times by the horsedick she wants badly to ride. would like to see her flip her ginger lid when she finds out the guy who won't fuck her has stirred every other pot around her, all her sisterfriends AND her mom, even paying money for what she's throwing at him for free. maybe she'll put herself on the menu out of sheer desperation to get stuffed.

Its funny to see how Jill rejected him becouse he take care of a sick friend. What a nice way to return the favor, she easily could talk to him in private, there was no need to humiliate him like that.

Yeah, that's pure BS and I'm afraid that this case won't be the only one in the future in which the branching gets completely out of hand.

I'm sure it'll be exactly like this, and I hate it. Just in case it doesn't I'm currently suffering through a M/J run so I can dump them at the beginning of Ep9 (if that Episode ever land's).

It will have a lot of impact in later EP's. Even if by that time the MC has an absolute clean slate, the fuse of the bomb could be lit in EP9. Why?

There will be three crucial people in the Burke apartment and the connection is Mona. EP5 Mona runs away after talking to Stephen Burke. The MC sees this and has his thoughts. In EP8 we learn that Sage still wants to talk to Mona.

These are all situations that we could not influence.

If now Maya, for whatever reason, shows the same reaction as Mona in EP5, the MC could mention the experience with Mona to Sage. The way Sage is on right now, she will intensify her search for Mona. When it comes to a conversation between Sage and Mona, the bomb detonates.

Theory
Tybalt is the son of Stephen and only the stepson of Jade. If this is so, one should come to the conclusion so that the family's fortune is Jade's. Why? Tybalt was not always rich and through the marriage closure of his father, he has become so. Is the blackmail with the failed marriage proposal to Jill just a plan B of Tybalt to secure his future? Who knows. But I am relatively sure about one thing. If Jade finds out, and be it through Sage, the feminist gender studies professor will divorce Stephen. Thus Stephen and his son will then end up in the pit from which they once rose.:unsure:
Do we know the Burkes are RICH? I mean really rich not just well off. I don't think we do. I think it's safe to assume Jill's and Rusty's family have real wealth, but the Burke's we don't know that. They certainly wield a lot of influence at B&R but BIG dough we don't know that.
One more thing, in my opinion, I think it's certain Mona is going to return. That bit of drama is too juicy for DPC to pass up.

That would be a different game, more intimate. But going big has its own advantages, BaDik has a girl for everyone, there is soo much to choose from, sometimes I find it difficult because I like most of the girls.

I think DPC has chosen to keep the girls you reject as a friend because they will keep appearing in the next chapters as part of the main story and it's easier for him to do it that way. You put them in the same place in groups (The main LIs, the hots, the pink rose girls) and then do your little extra scene with the LI of your choice, that gives all of them screen time without having to do several different long scenes.

He did the same in AL, and works great because they become friends and develop relationships themselves. Feels like they have a life. Jill and Bella were going their own path and now they know Sage, Maya, Josy... Even Quinn (the lone wolf) goes to the library to hide drugs in a book. So they know each other and can go together to the beach in spring break or whatever and they can get jealous, fight or support each other and add a lot of drama.

The bad part is that choices are limited sometimes and we can't get rid of Maya, but I like Josy a lot.

I'm waiting to see what happens at the next library study session if you reject M&J for Jill. Because Tremolo hasn't told them yet.
Yes, I agree. Maintaining the girls you reject as friends is a narrative resource to keep the characters into the story. Problem is, when you are not into the route of those characters, is no more Tremolo´s (the player) story, but some side story in which Tremolo has a secondary part. In my case, I can´t care less about M&J love story and drama. It´s not my Tremolo´s story. I don´t even find plausible that Tremolo continues involved into M&J plotline. It´s like he has known their secret by chance, and now is trapped into their dramas due emotional blackmail, more than for friendship. It only has sense if Tremolo were into their route. And probably the same happens with people that is not into Bella´s or Jill´s story, for example. It´s the problem of that way of writing a story.

Devs tend to bite more than they can chew. DPC is creating a story with a lot of characters and main an secondary branches. Now he has the most difficult task: to finish it well, and before all his fans are dead of old age or boring to death to wait for new chapters. A story a bit more simple and with a few less characters could be more rounded, with less scenes hammered into the plot. Also, would be easier to write and the updates would be more frequents. As you say, it would be a more intimate story, in which Tremolo (the player) could be involved in every branch in a more personal way, not just because, apparently, he´s a saint that can´t see a damsel in distress (even the ones that hurt his feelings) without trying to help them.

You mean the asshole dad, who has a history of cheating with Isabella, there is a story there between them both. The dad asshole who fuck students as well and is aware of a prostitution inside HOTs, using the girls in exchange for tuition. The same asshole dad that is already trying to date isabella again. If she cares about her mom she will know her mom is only looking for happiness and the only reason she stays married to that asshole of a husband is because of them (the kids). If Sage decide her relationship based on this mindset you just described. She is the asshole. Because she would accept the fact that men can cheat and women cant. So as much as her mother she is wrong for cheating on her cheater gay boyfriend with tremolo as well. If you stop to think about it. Her mom is doing the same thing she did in her relationship with chad lol. I refuse to believe that Sage is that stupid.
Burke is an asshole, but he´s Sage´s dad. It´s only natural that Sage loves her father, even if he´s and asshole, although I suspect that after his business come to light, the impact is going to be so hard that that love will become in hate. About Jade, I suppose that Sage would be OK with her finding happiness... But not having affairs with students! That´s exactly the same that Burke is doing fucking students. She probably will feel disgusted and nauseated by both of them, and if Tremolo has part in that family affair, only makes sense that she will be disgusted with Tremolo too. Again: no more the trustworthy, sexy guy with a magic cock, but the "manwhore" that fucks with her mother, the same way the "womenwhores" of her friends fuck with her father. She's going to break with the HOT´s (at least with half of them) and she´s going to break with Tremolo.
