A little pessimistic. That 6 months also includes washup for episode 11 and pre-production for episode 12. So maybe 4-5 months of solid "development", so overall still about a year-ish development time.
And the work of Chapter 12 will include the launch of the third season on steam and gog....

Hey, all. It's been a rough week for me. The flu I woke up with last Friday got pretty intense, and I'm still feeling some of the symptoms today. But it has been going in the right direction since Tuesday, and I have been able to work since the end of the weekend. It reminds me a lot of how I felt the time I caught COVID, so I'm not ruling out that it's a similar bug again.

Bleh! I'll be fully back on track in a few days from now, and I am working as normal now, so that's good.

I finished the special scene I had been working on, and with that, I had caught up on all writing for completed scenes. Since then, I have played the episode, fixed things here and there, planned and focused on writing dialogue. I will continue focusing on writing in the upcoming week.

The overall progress of episode 12 development at the moment is the following.

  • Static renders are probably around 30-35% done for the episode.
  • Posed animations are higher and estimated at 40-45%.
  • I have barely started with music and sound effects work; it will wait for later.
Here is an image showing the episode 12 timeline and how the scenes with completed art are distributed throughout the episode.

As you can tell, I've primarily been working chronologically, with some exceptions here and there. I have created a lot of canon content for the episode so far.

Poll news
Thanks for commenting on who you wanted to see get a poll next. I have decided which girl gets it and designed a poll that I will post this weekend.

Have a nice weekend

Looking at the graph it looks like dpc manage to do quite of progress in just few months.

Not pessimistic at all, he tells you in the post that a 3rd of renders have been done and about 40% of animations have been posed and it's taken 6months there or there abouts to get here... And that's before he decides to add anymore scenes for reasons... 18 months is pretty realistic at this point

If that was all they'd been doing I'd think it was accurate. But given all the ancillary stuff it doesn't account for I think Spring is still the most likely release window.

Note! The block sizes are not proportional to scene length.

If my memory serves me right, DPC mentioned he was working quite a bit on longer scenes. If he got a good chunk of those out of the way, I think we might get E12 earlier than after 18 months, like 12-15 (fingers crossed). I'm happy he at least included some visualization of the progress.

Nope, happens every dev cycle, DPC comes out wit numbers and people flock and declare "might get it sooner" it'll soon slow down.
It was a 15 month cycle for 11
It was a 12 month cycle for 10
It was a 9 month cycle for 9

The pattern is last dev cycle plus 3 months and there's no reason to think otherwise here.

Spring is definitely not the most likely window

Episode 9 also has the Interlude before it for the "engine upgrades", so the three month development of that is tied to it. And for Episode 11 there were other issues such as personal loss.

A ballpark of slight increase still leaves us in Spring (Mar-May).

Nope, episode 9 came 9 months after the interlude, so there isn't three months of development tied to it at all.

You can spin it all you want but it's taken him 5-6 months to render about 33% of statics, continuing the pace he will be at 66% 5-6 months from now and 100% 10-12 months from now.

And that's before he's sorted out music, unplanned scenes, testing and the likes.

As I said, it happens all the time when he starts giving numbers, it don't mean shit. But finishing 2/3rds of the game in 6 months for a spring release is not just hugely optimistic it's highly unlikely.

Well fuck. If that is the case then the next one will only come out in september of the next year. I hope you're wrong.

True, but knowing Josy she probably would've asked about at least a couple of stuff on the wall:
- Who are the girls/women in the picture?
- Why do you have sexy art of my friend(s) on your wall?
- Why do you have a Pink Rose VIP on the wall?

Just to name a few things.
You have a point there. But I think I can account for why this has not happened yet. The wall only really applies to S3. It exists in S2, but there is barely anything on it. So your chosen path makes a great deal of difference. Nosing around in a guy's room is really rude if you aren't in a relationship and even in one you shouldn't just take it for granted that you can do that. (Yes, MC snoops around everywhere and I do consider it pretty damn rude.) So really only the on path girl would do it or a girl who doesn't care if it's rude. So case by case.

Bella obviously spends so little time at the DIK's that she hasn't had chances to make such observations. Josy hasn't spent much time there because Tommy has been a cunt about it. Maya does spend a little more time there, but is less nosy. Sage and Jill are much harder to explain. Jill might just not be all that comfortable there or is simply wary of making a faux pas with how little experience she has with relationships. Sage, though. Why the hell has Sage not at least made fun of the things he has on the wall? S3 makes it clear that she treats his room as her own.

As for the Others. Well none of them are on the same level of intimacy as the mains so it would be rude of them to do that, but which ones would care? Well not that many. But would they really care what he has on the wall either? The only one that really might is Zoey and her visits to campus have been so few she just hasn't had the opportunity aside from the ep 10 visit. It's pretty weird that she didn't take a look at his wall then.

No, the only way any of the characters will notice the same house in both pictures is when returning to Zoey from Jill's path and Zoey takes a look at the two pictures. It's such a shame that just as she is about to point it out to MC Sage barges in and murders her.

Around March is probably very optimistic, but September is probably a bit pessimistic.
Doesn't hurt to be pessimistic though, worst case you're right, best case you get it early.

It is a healthy realism after being a witness of development circa Ep.9, optimistic prognosis end in reality with pessimistic. We know him, he always adding more content (not always necessary), and the last months of development are the most slow due to polishing and bug-fixing.
Plus he usually starts to make animations for the next episode before the current episode release, with 2-3 weeks before. Same story every time.
