Bit of a film nerd here, but this is why you should listen to the game's soundtrack more closely.
I don't know if this is intentional or not, but unlike most of these games with music, DPC seems to use some semblance of lietmotifs for the characters (as much as you can for a video game where the player controls the pace) such as

being both the theme of the game and of the MC himself, while

seems to be Josy's song,

being Maya's, and so on. It feel cinematic because he's actually using the music to help tell the story rather than just have it be a backdrop. You hear certain songs appear during specific moment intentionally. It's no "Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse" (

) but it still gets it point across and already places itself way above all other games of the genre. Most developers seem to be sex and visual-centric, but a good game has writing (with very intentional dialogue), story pacing, proper lighting and scene setting, and musical story telling.Side note: The link I shared also covers the Hero's Journey story formula, and this game follows it too

You can do it on your phone in the rooster app I believe. It's such a small and minor feature that it makes sense no one would notice.
If you open your phone and click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner of contacts you can change MC's profile photo, name and handle.
