Can't say I've heard about it (or more likely, remember it). But it wouldn't surprise me. It's an easy to overlook issue, even for teams consisting of more than one dev :)

Totally unrelated, Bell Master is now available on itch.io

Free, of course :)
You've forgotten to put the linux and mac version on Itch.io, or maybe it's intentional... Difficult for me to know :)

Thanks for the heads up, seems this is the official mip-fails-at-checkboxes day since I missed the "hide this file and prevent it from being downloaded" checkbox on all non windows versions.
All platforms should be available now.

unity is a piece of work. it seems easy enough to use as an engine for your game, but non optimized games on my phone turn the battery meter into a countdown.

Funny you should say that on the day I start suspecting I should give the android version some more of my attention...

Hotfix 0.12.1 is out. This version should fix the uncapped FPS bug on the fast and fastest quality settings.
If you still encounter unreasonable spikes in GPU or CPU usage, please report it, thanks.

It occurs to me that I haven't done a "these are games I like" post in a while. Just to be clear, this isn't one of them "cross promotion" things, most of these devs have little to no clue who I am, these are games that I actually played and enjoyed enough to personally recommend. So here goes:

A strange story with a sci-fi bend. It delivers its narrative through multiple perspectives and it seems you're in control of the location more than any of the characters. It's a weird abstract mystery... thing. Its renders are great and it's criminally under recognized in my opinion. Go check it out.

A new BBBen game, that doesn't hide itself behind an awkward text based interface? Yes please! It's still relatively early in its development. But it's BBBen, the writing is excellent, the renders unique, and the story, even this early, is already compelling. If you've never played a BBBen game, this should be an easy jumping on point.

Likely the most well known game on this list. It's fun, has some decent world building, and each of its characters is interesting in their own way. I worry it'll fall into the infinitely expending game trap at some point, but for now each update has been consistently good.

You like spanking? This game is for you. Seriously, this game isn't the prettiest, or the hottest, or the most interesting. It's on this list mostly for how it takes a single specific fetish and just runs with it as far as it'll go. The story is fine and the renders are decent enough. Check it out if you're into that.

Altering behavior through sexually charged negative reinforcement? Yeah that's an easy recommendation to make. The school setting has been done to death, so don't expect anything ground breaking story-wise. But it's silly, competently developed fun that earned its spot on F95's featured games list. I can only hope Bell Master is deemed worthy to make it on that list one day ;)

Also, is still good and recommended, in case anyone managed to miss that one.

That's it for now. Hopefully you've found at least one game on here that interests you. Thanks for hanging around. I'll see you all again in the regular weekly update

Update time!

I've spent this week refining and implementing the first segment of the ending. It's a mostly linear segment that wraps up the immediate story. Like most scenes involving the old man, it's been super fun to work on. I also worked on the "bad" ending branch, that one gave me some serious anxiety. I almost hope no one experiences that one :/

Phoenix is continuing work on the images for the endings. It's a large event with multiple unique images, so it'll likely take more than a month to get through. The sketches so far are looking really nice. And frankly, I think Phoenix proved herself with her work on the last version, so I'm more excited than worried at this point.

The itch.io release went well. The download analytics from it continue to baffle me, with Android downloads accounting for 3/4 of all downloads. I never would have guessed that! It's sure to shift my attention a bit more to that version of the game.

I've been avoiding putting in any analytics tools in the game due to the sensitivities around the genre, but I'm reconsidering that. So I'll ask directly, if the game asked you at some point if you wanted to opt-in and allow the game to send some anonymous information about your play session, like which actions you chose or how many times you clicked the bell, would you approve it? Ignore it? Avoid the game because of it? I'd love to know how you feel on this issue.

Have a great week!

One of my favorite posts of the week. Yours and Akabur's weekly Family-Friendly post are must-reads.

You should definitely code with Android portability in mind. It's huge market.

About analytics:
I see the utility for you the dev, but it smacks of commercialism. I'd also be concerned that you would subconsciously start writing for the clicks, rather than for the story / art of it.

If your objective is to make commercially successful games, then maybe that is the way to go. I think the general story nature would be a lurking variable that influences the clicks by players. I don't think you'd be able to extrapolate anything but generalities between games. It could, however help you prune paths that are so unpopular as to not be worth the time to develop further.

Personally, my clicks would be all over the place, as I scummsave constantly and try all the paths. Maybe something would come together for you at the macro / aggregated level for people like me.

To be honest, I would probably decline analytics anyway, even though I do want to help you improve your game.

Thanks for the in depth response. The power of analytics is indeed in the aggregate of multiple players sessions and not so much in analyzing single sessions. I think it's as I originally suspected and analytics are poorly received in this community, which is understandable and either way not a thing I can argue away. That being said, if anyone else has another take on the subject, do speak up!

Well, automatic analytics tools are fishy. But, you could just save that with the game save files, and then allow people to send generated feedback.

If it's done this way then there must be an option to opt in or out, because including analytics in saves could cause major bloating of the files depending on how much logging is done.

I thought it was fantastically ironic how the MC is basically forced into being something resembling a decent husband.

I wish there was more of a reason to go on dates. By the time I could raise sexuality enough for dates to do anything I didn't get much benefit out of them anymore.

Also, not sure if you intended this, but I was able to complete all the orgasm training in a single time slot by keeping the wife in the high pleasure zone.

Good game overall. I wish there were more like it.

no. since unity phones home regarding metrics anyway, erotic games get the bat from my firewall.
I hear ya. I suspected this was the general attitude towards analytics. I'll continue without them then.

That's unintended. Thanks for letting me know, should be an easy fix.
Glad you liked the game :)
