How does this affect my game?
Right now, this doesn't change much for me, so I mostly want to give you guys a head up and share my thoughts. According to itch.io, this block is temporary while they sort out their stuff. I assume that they'll add a checkbox which says that you're complying to the rules of their payment processors. My game doesn't contain any of the content that caused these bans, everything in the story is fully consensual. So, as far as I can tell, the game is safe under the current rules, especially since it's also on Patreon, which has already strict guidelines.

I also want to say that I'm not relying on this project as my full-time income. Many devs do, they're hit a lot harder by this than I am, and I feel for them. For me, working part-time on this project comes with its own hurdles, but the one good thing is, it is not an existential threat to my livelihood. I'm still sad, angry, and disappointed about this whole situation but I'm doing okay mentally. I just hope this doesn't escalate into an outright ban on all NSFW content since I still dream of doing this full-time at some point.

What now?
As long as Patreon and SubscribeStar stay up, I'll keep working on the game like always. So please don't worry, the development goes on. I have made some dedicated posts for the latest release and pinned them on top of Patreon/SubscribeStar, so you can easily find everything if necessary.

For anyone who prefers it, the SFW version of the game, Beyond Humanity, is up now and won't be affect by any of this. So if you'd rather play the story without adult content, that option is now there for you, at least for Chapter 1. It is a prototype which I want to test out if people would like to get their hands on. There is no difference in content to Between Humanity other than the removal of the NSFW scenes.

The future?
If itch.io doesn't continue to support NSFW creators, it might be worth looking for novels through a site that only lists and rates them, without hosting downloads or needing payment providers but provide links to the developer's pages instead. I haven't tested it myself, but I found my game on it, so it can't be that bad, right?

I appreciate you all for sticking with me. Let's hope this gets resolved soon and that adult creators can keep doing what they love (in a legal manner) without payment companies trying to police art.

TL;DR: Between Humanity doesn't break any rules (no illegal or non-consensual content). There is a 'copy' of the game without NSFW elements called Beyond Humanity on itch.io now. The itch.io NSFW block is temporary. I'm still developing the game, nothing really changed.

Don't know if DebatingPanda will see this, but, if he does, I wanna say: It's terrible what happened, and it's not right what they did to you, man. I'll keep supporting you 'till the end! I hope the group, Collective Shout, that pushed itch into doing this, gets shut down soon. They aren't activists, they're fucking dictators. And what's going on right now is truly awful.

I'm glad Between Humanity will make it through this! That's more than a some developers can say...

It doesn't seem that either of these describe Anya--she's very forward with MC (even in the game intro), and very much a tease throughout (as far as we've gotten, at least). Even her last scene doesn't betray any romantic interest or attraction to MC; as far as we (well, I) see, she's just horny and MC has the only available dick. She likes him well enough, but as a friend/"brother", not romantically. I won't be in the least surprised to see her develop/acknowledge romantic feelings for him, but I don't recall seeing them, or even much in the way of hints of them.

Characteristic of tsundere seems to be that the romantic feelings are present throughout, but the character refuses to acknowledge them until they become overwhelming. And while we may see that this has been the case of Anya, it doesn't seem that we're yet at that point. Am I missing something here?

I do agree with you, Anya is only teasing the MC but throughout the story it seems like her feelings is being developed. But she is not true to her self and keeps disregarding her feelings, that's why on the last update I had a separated save and rejected her, maybe she then will realize her doings (for me its too much teasing, but still a cutie hahaha).

Don't worry I'm not familiar also hahaha, I'm not really into Anya and I lean more towards to Lucy, especially there mother haha may fav. I hope the new update comes so our questions can be resolve, any ideas when the update might come?

I seem to really be into the "romance" characters/story lines, especially when there's a "friends-to-lovers" component--so definitely Lucy here, Annie in Eternum, Jenny in Ripples. I like Anya just fine (and I'm sure she'll be lots of fun), but Lucy a lot more. I don't think it's reading too much into the story to see that she's been crushing on MC for quite some time, well before the accident, but MC might not have reciprocated until what we see (i.e., until he wakes up after the accident). If/when Anya acknowledges romantic feelings for MC, she'll move up on my list, but Lucy will probably stay firmly at the top.

Jane? If the relationship's the big thing for me, as it seems to be, it just isn't there with her, at least not yet. Again, I like her just fine, she looks more than "just fine," but I'm not seeing romantic interest on either side.

Where might there be some? Naomi, Chloe, maybe even Venus? Naomi sounds like MC is more than just a fuck buddy to her. Chloe seems interested in MC, but I think she'd defer to Lucy until the harem really gets going. Venus? Hard to say--as noted in the locker room, it's literally her job to make men think she's interested in them, but she was pretty persuasive. Figure in some AVN logic, and Venus' interest is probably at least somewhat genuine.

Mia? Claire? Too early to say. Both seem pleasant. Jade? I think I like her; she'll be interesting to watch.

Twist: The sexbot is totally into MC--just a wild suggestion.

any ideas when the update might come?

None at all--I just got into this one. Its last release (the third major release) was this past May; this thread was started Oct. '23. That's about a year and a half for three major releases; if it continues at the same rate, I'd expect 0.4 around October-November this year.

I told her no, and I haven't heard from her since then. And I'm fine with this. I don't think she'll be very relevant to the plot; to me, she seems more like, as the club whore, a character to include sex scenes soon. I've told both of them the same thing because they have similar jobs.

But at the end of the scene, she needs to have an "update", and on her way to do that, she refuses a "customer," saying she's rented to MC for the next 69 years. My "she's into MC" is silly speculation from that.

Well, in your case, the MC still has the 69 years of rent to know about her. I assume someone else will have those 69 years of rent in my game, which I think is perfect since it's not the MC who has them, so I'm going to assume I'll never hear about her again.
