Lol all these precocious people who want their build-a-bear porn these days... Can't appreciate a good story if it gets in the way of their fetishes.
"Good Story" is subjective, if it has shit fetishes its a shit story. I suppose you read all stories? Even if the content is meh... Honestly, "Build a bear" simple broadens the range of potential people that will find something worthwhile in the story. Perhaps though, you are in a unique position of having no standards at all and would find a story about watching paint dry worth your time?

There's a difference between watching paint dry and allowing porn to have artistic merit outside of your fetish range. I don't even begin to know where you're coming from with that argument. Like, people dying sucks, so if people die in a book/movie, it automatically sucks? WTF?

Artistic merit... has little value if its art that doesn't appeal to someone. For porn thats especially true, some kinks are intolerable to people. Scat, Guro, etc... I don't want to see it... at all. Any game with it, is something I have zero interest in. This can be expanded to, some kinks do nothing for me... its a solid meh.... like feet stuff, boring whatever... hopefully uninteresting scenes don't drag on too long cause I got better shit to do than stare at boring shit. Allowing players to disable shit they don't care for allows more freedom to a game maker... to appeal to more people. As far as dying makes a book/movie automatically suck... yes it does, ever see a scene where a girl is giving a guy a blowjob and as he is getting off an axe falls and cuts off her head.... not the kind of thing most people want in a porn game...

There's a difference between things that are inserted for shock content/fetish value and things that are put in because the creator has some kind of vision for the story. Bible Black always gave me the impression that its creator(s?) had some kind of story and vision they wanted to do justice to. Whether or not they succeeded? I don't know. Whether or not they should have tried to tell whatever story they needed to tell in hardcore extreme fetish porn? I don't know. But I definitely have the impression that they were trying to do something that they at least believed had artistic merit. If it's not your thing, fine, but that isn't some kind of objective determination of its value.

It is indeed a determination of its value, though value is highly subjective. What is the value of WoW?, at one point its value was 11 million dollars a month. Some baseball cards were worth millions of dollars.. Though can something be worth millions of dollars and still be worthless? Yes, cause its actual value... not its pretend value is determined by whether someone will actually purchase it, if noone will purchase it... its selling price doesn't actually match its true value to people. Now, value can be determined with many things more than money... What is the value of a story that no one will invest time into reading? If your giving something away for free and nobody will take it... than its perceived value is zilch. Not saying that bible black is worthless... however, just because something is highly valuable to some people does not mean it has value... it only has value to those that its attributes appeal to. Which was my arguement, being able to turn off kinks that lower the value to a person can increase the broad spectrum appeal, potentially without losing the perceived value to those that like said kinks. Honestly, does my being able to turn off scat lower the value of the story to you? I would hope not. However, I don't really care if a story is "Build-a-Bear" cause if a game doesn't appeal to me, I ignore it (Typically) and move on. Which I actually did with this story... I haven't played the game... was in the chat to find out more about what its actual contents were.. and figured out it didn't have what I was looking for. At this point, my reply was more of a disagreement with a comment. Developers should know that trying to please everyone is a waste of time... but if they seek to broaden the appeal of their story, customizabilty tends to help.

This game is a classic, it was made before patreon devs were doing the select-a-fetish stuff you're clamoring about... No one cares about *your* preferences, if you think you're representative of the general populace or something... And even so, preferences are irrelevant. Anything of artistic value will find an audience and recoup its value or more if it's coherent and well-made. Moreso if it has some sort of resonance beyond its base presentation, which this work clearly does. The people who made this story and the people who've made it a classic don't really give a shit about what you want to see or not, its value is in the vision laid out and implemented by its creators. Hopefully you can get that much into your head.

If you want to critique it, feel free to do so on its merit as a story, the pacing, the art style, or whatever. But the tags are laid out and bitching about this or that fetish especially for something with the context this story has is obtuse.

I wasn't talking about "my" preferences you jackass, I was talking about a concept. Customization expands a games appeal to a greater number of people. Your arguing about shit I'm not talking about. Stay on topic or shut up please, cause your point is invalid and not relevant. If you were arguing that specialized niche content allows for quality over broader appeal I wouldn't disagree... So... please pull the offended stick out of your butt and read what I'm talking about. Stop fan-boying over this bible black, I'm not even really talking about it.

I will expand, market data and surveys have consistently shown that the top three popular fetishes are .... rape/non-con, pregnancy, and bdsm. Meanwhile the bottom of the list is scat, and guro. Scat and guro fall into about 5% of the human population that are interested in it, however data has shown that over 60% find both those "tags" unappealing that if it is included they won't touch the product. That being said, it has also been proven that by being able to turn off said content the damage to appeal can be mitigated.
Now, trying to appeal to everyone is a waste of time... it tends to dilute content and lower the quality of content provided. In almost all cases, being able to turn off content that isn't the main focus increases the appeal of the product. So customization of a game is generally a good thing, however as stated prior... tags like scat and guro are highly unpopular... so unless that is the main "kink" of the product... there will be a loss of interest regardless of whether the content can be turned off or not... This isn't a baseless opinion... just what the market data and surveys I have seen show.
You don't have to like it, and it doesn't have to be about "money"... Its just data that can be kept in mind to know where the general interest will be and how one can expand that interest. The data supports my position on "build a bear" games. Though there is plenty of room to be had for a healthy non-butthurt debate.
