I won't spread any tales or statements I cannot prove but what I heard firsthand is RIDICULOUS.
What I do know is that Patreon is responding to reports and if a game is constantly reported, it's gone. I feel bad for the developers who worked hard on their games only to get this treatment.
With risky decisions, there can be both great rewards and great loss. Creating a game centered around incest (a taboo fetish) was a risky move that was bound to get attention. On one hand, that's a good way to get people to look at your game and see the story and artwork which turns them into patrons. On the other hand, it can get attention from those who want to destroy anything about incest. DarkSilver had almost a year of good fortune but the coin flipped. Now it's DarkSilver's chance to flip that coin back so it's all good again and that's a pretty tough task.
Think of it this way. It was a good run while it lasted. We must take this situation and make the best of it.

Sorry, misread "uncle" as father. But there would still be a step-relationship. Instead of step-mother it would be step-aunt. Instead of step-sisters, it would be step-cousins. Which from the sounds of it, would still be more than Patreon would tolerate. The friendzone part was exaggeration, but from what I've heard, even if there is no blood relation, if there is any kind of family dynamic (they refer to each other as family, or "brother", or they've just grown up in the same house), it's forbidden.
Plus, Patreon has told DS that rewriting the game isn't an option. That's been said multiple times.

Well, it's a bit of misunderstanding. If I want to rewrite BB, I just have to explain how it will be changed and Patreon should approve it. And I've decided to step out.

BB should not be rewritten ... it must be continued. So go ahead with your decision to "freeze" BB until you find the way out of Patreon. We welcome Glamor and see if it will have the same enthusiasm as BB ..... the future? ... no one knows but everyone wants BB finished.

Ah. That's a bit of new information, so thanks for the clarification. Or I may have missed it earlier. Either way, I don't see the point in rewriting the game. I would definitely love to see it given some closure, even if it's one more update beyond the planned one. If we could have sex with Lisa after having had sex with Ann in the next update, I think the game would leave on a high note. I'd even donate towards that last update if there were a secure source for doing so.

One thing that gets the attention in incest stories (at least for me) is the moral conflict inherent to this fetish. Same goes for the rape, BDSM or mind control ones (even though they aren't my cup of tea).
Ever since humans learn how to write, literature served as a way to make readers experience things and sensations they usually couldn't, shouldn't or wouldn't be able to.
I find it dificult to get hooked on a story if there isn't any kind of dilemma or moral conflict. For me those are just an average Joe getting random chicks (if that's your thing tho, go ahead).
Take Lolita for example. It tells the story of a middle aged man who falls in love with a 12 years old girl. It's a very succesful book that was read by millions of people. Does that make them pedophiles? I don't think so... Uh... Some of them may in fact be, but that's not the point.
What I'm trying to say, and most people seem to have trouble understanding nowadays, is that literature, fiction, is one thing. Real life is another completely diferent. If you want to tell a love story involving siblings (Dreaming of Dana comes to mind), will you be glorifying incest? Not necessarily.
Yes, I get why patreon is frowning upon rape themes (mind control included) as it's quite of a sensitive topic today, but I can't, for the life of me, understand why they threw incest in the bunch. While it's a taboo fetish (what fetish ins't a taboo in itself anyway), it's a pretty harmless one.
I do understand that in real life incest is, most of the time, a non consensual relationship, but then again, Real Life =/= Fiction.
Without trying to ge too political, those mindsets (liberal, leftist and conservative) in their ever going war agains each other already ruined social media and are starting to crawl their way up other areas. This is not good, not at all.
Sooner you won't be able to even HAVE fetishes because they could offend someone. It sounds stupid, but it's real.

What baffles me is that it looks like Patreon still didn't realized that this market (the NSFW) has demand.
Hell, just Summertime Saga and Dreams of Desire thogether make more than 60k of income.

Supposedly it's one of their recent investors pushing back on them. That, and PayPal doesn't like dealing with adult stuff, even if they do have a spinoff for just that thing. But then again, there's adult, and then there's kinks like incest and the like. Plus, there's the current social climate, with heightened scrutiny on sexual assault. In the eyes of many people, incest is in itself a form of rape. Just like DS couldn't see it happening without some coercion, neither can a lot of other people. If you look at some adult video sites, searching on certain terms like "incest" brings back nothing. It's not that it isn't there, but rather that the site is coded not to let you search for it. You'll see a lot of what is out there posted as "not her brother", or saying it's step when there's no mention of it in the video. So even porn sites can be kind of leery of the kink.
Now, I don't think Patreon is forcing all adult content away. Just stuff that touches at all upon rape, incest, or characters that could be underage. The ones that can stay likely will. I can't imagine another site wanting to take in the sudden influx of kink-laden porn that is out there. Some of it is in too much of a grey area, or even illegal in some places. It's also a PR nightmare. You can set up the site, but people can harass you, or your hosting company, or your payment processor, etc. Whoever tries to set up that competition to Patreon should be prepared for a headache.

To be honest, the way I notice things lately, Patreon isn't THAT hard on incest games, as long as the page doesn't openly advertise it.
All the games that have fallen untill now either had mentions to it on their pages or had "sugestive" titles.
So, they way I see, it's more of a "facade" thing.
As I said earlier, We'll see how it goes when other big titles like SS and DoD get hit, if they ever do (as their pages are quite clean and their titles aren't really sugestive).
If I were DC and LL, I would start building countermeasures tho, it's always good to have a backup plan in hand.
The impression I get is that the first round was more focused on the facade part. If you changed the name of your game if it suggested incest at all, if you got rid of adult pictures from your public page, and if you never mentioned any taboo fetishes on that public page, you were good.
But now they do seem to be going after actual content in the game itself. I don't know if that was their plan all along, or something new. Either way, it suggests to me that they may not stop here. Their next big thing might be going after any character in an adult game that *could* be under 18.
Summertime Saga is a popular game, but my understanding is that incest is only a part of it. I think they're going to focus on the games focused on incest first, or with that as a primary theme.

I find it troubling that everyone is just accepting that just because patreon has decreed that BB cannot be posted there, DS is stopping development. I feel like I need to remind people that The game started development without funding, and has since made a LOT of money from peoples voluntary support. Based on the amount of content that was being added each update, it was clearly not a full time occupation for anyone involved so the "I need money to go full time" line was nonsense.
This is where we find out just how dedicated DS is to the game and more importantly the people who had donated thousands of dollars who are now being told that their investment and support was all for nothing. If he had any respect for the people who have supported him for the last 12 months, there should be no question that the game will be finished.
