Will using my old save file keep me from seeing a lot of this new content? Do i need to start from scratch?

Suggest you check out Summertime Saga.. Unless by animated you mean Animie.. (Asian art style)

Old saves should not cause any problems. The only time there is an issue with saves is if you broke the game, but if you haven't had any trouble you should be able to copy all your saves to the new version. Just remember to either copy ALL you saves, or you need to rename the ones you do in order (save0.save then save1.save ect.).

Once you decided to scarp the old Olivia path, and this is obviosly your choice to make as the games creator, why did you not make sure that new and old players was being told and warned about this? Why the pretend of a merge?
Why did you not simply remove the option to start the old Olivia path when it can no longer be played?
It's as easy as just remove 1 line of text from the game and that way no one can start the "Dead end" path.
You knew all along "the merge" was a 1 way.. From Lisa to Olivia. There was no way from Olivia to Lisa so it was already a scrapped idea when you made the new content for Olivia. Yet.., you let more people start the game and risk falling into the same trap. The completely DEAD END Olivia path! You should have removed the old Path to avoid future complications and anger players who make that choice not knowing the outcome.
It's not hard to just admit a misstake. We all make em. Your misstake wasn't deciding on letting the old Olivias path go, It was not beeing clear about it and give people a fair warning this was gonna happen. So now i see the same question on the forums everyday from people on the Olivia path.. Why can't i progress in the game pls pls help... Well because the creator didn't have the balls to just admit he wanted to scrap an old story to make room for a new. And thats how easy you could have got away with it. No one but you decides what you wanna do with BB and as for patreons they will either agree or leave. Thats Life..

Its to bad that @DarkSilver let the patreons decide whats going in his game and all the BDSM bullshit just for 10% of the players is even more bullshit.
Bring in an NPC and drops her.
Bring in even more NPC's and drops them even faster.
Now we get stupid BDSM that 90% if the players base does not want all because the patreons tells him what to put in (well no longer) his game.
He really sold everyone on romance then only 3 dates/days later shoots it in the foot and drops it with bullshit content that never gets finish.

All BDSM stuff is only DS’s idea. As he said earlier he couldn’t see any possibilities of romance between family members, only blackmail sex. But suddenly BDSM in family is okay

Not one to talk about other dev's games as a general rule but BDSM is fairly Low hanging fruit in terms of story progression. In fairness to Darksilver though, the story has been headed that way for some considerable time. Nobody can honestly say that after Kira turned out to be a pornstar, Lisa turned out to thoroughly enjoy spanking and Anal and Alice turned out to be a bi-sexual slave girl (now dom) that you didn't get fair warning

Patreons never asked him the put bdsm. It doesn't work like that. He never asked if we want more bdsm or not. If you take a look at the polls you'll see. Questions are always who's gonna dominate. So basicaly he says i'm putting more bdsm in the game whether you like it or not and you get the choose who's dominate

No you don't get to choose Alice does the dominating and its crap.
If you copy a broken save file and paste this broken save file back in the new folder, the save file will still be broken -.-

Yes you need to download the complete game each time a new update comes out.
My biggest wish here is that someday(hopefully very VERY soon) Dark Silver fix that bloody 4th movie/sleeping with mom bug that has been there FOREVER. It's so bloody annoying.

Animations.. Well thats a diffrent topic, hehe
There are non in BB. It's all renders and they are very good, but no motion stuff.
Some animations exist in Renpy games like DmD, DoD and so on.. But frankly they kinda suck. I think for some more serious animation adult games you would have to look into Browser games and Asian games like "Sexy Beach"
