Hello everyone!
Time for a new report.
If the previous one, was a “Part 2” this would be a “Part 3” for the revamped enemies. Remember how many body-types I mentioned we added for them?
Well, now get
the more than hundred and a half animations a single average Infected had in the Arena and
multiply by those many body-types…
Good part has been that for the enemies
the Unreal Engine auto-Retargeter worked pretty decently, otherwise this could have taken years .
Anyways,
those animations are now “ported” to the new enemies. They look decent, but I’d like them to be better, but that’s not a priority right now, maybe in the future.
After converting all the animations, the next step was to swap the old enemies with the new ones. This bought a lot of errors here and there. After fixing them all, I
took an extra step and created a parametrized random enemy generator, to give them random looks (including bodies, faces, anims, clothes, shaders, etc.)
Enemies are basically ready now, except for the clothes’ materials/textures, which is the next step.
In the screenshots, you can take a look at some randomly generated enemies. (Who could say they have like half the polygons from the old Arena Infected? )
And that’s going to do it for this report.
And now, time to get back to dying in here working without fresh air (yeah, still waiting to get that fixed, they’re laughing at us )!
