The worst part, is that they're undeniably just worse looking. If you're going to copy the designs of existing characters, at least make them look good enough to enjoy looking at them. This game just causes a constant unfavorable comparison.

It's 100% the art style chosen for these two. In their officials renders, Pyra and Mythra are some heavily detailed characters with lots of brightly saturated colors and highlights.


These two have all of their armor bits and accessories stripped off leaving the bare cloth behind and are far more muted in color. It's clearly done to avoid the Nintendo Ninjas™, but the uncanny valley in full effect and sort of ruins the fun.
