i still don't get this... what's the problem with RPG maker? yes, sometimes it gets formulaic, and sure the creators putting a lot of extra time and money for new textures and more creative results would be great, but overall seems like a functional enough way of making games.
9/10 times, self made porn games (so not Studio FOW or larger japanese games) are made by people who have an idea, free time, and dedication (I'm talking about games that don't get abandoned, the ones that actually go somehwere), but that's about all they do have. Art is a questionmark, can be good, can be bad, can be good, but bought and misused, the programming is usually absolutely trash and none of these people are real game devs with real game mechanics, purpose and design. They just throw down a map they found somewhere, place some points of interests, make you go from one to another and that's about it.
I don't trust a lot of devs on this site to be competent. Give them a bad tool (like RPGM) and just see how they misuse it. Not to mention that even good uses of RPGM end up being meh. A fap game with tons of walking, no waypoint and without a proper quest log? Who has the time, patience, or even willingness to remember all the shit a random NPC told you to do 5 weeks ago when you last played the game?
There are exceptions, but even the ones that come to mind, I'd still 100% rather have a renpy remake any day of the week.
