Yeah I have played pretty much every html game on here including spell for all but the gameplay issues are why I would not fully recommend it. A lot of games have a couple issues that can put people off. Games with weird UI, tedious gameplay, confusing content requiring a walkthrough, etc.

Those are both decent. Incubus City is kind of a roguelite VN game which is neat. Gateway I think can get a bit tedious at times. There is such a thing as too much content. There are so many characters in that game it can be quite annoying to keep track of everything but there are some good quality of life UI elements that help to keep track of it.

is the Mega back to being a virus? is the maker trying to get people to download a virus? what the hell is going on with this file
The chances of a html game having a virus are very slim. if you're worried - only open the html file in your browser, if it doesn't open, delete it all.

the folder itself is giving alerts and the downloads have been replaced with viruses in the past

Those were usually Renpy games and afaik not linked in the OP but posted by compromised accounts in the thread.
I don't really want to download an abandoned game just to verify but I'd be surprised if this suddenly contained a virus considering how long it's been since the last update.
If you don't want to chance it then the game is free to play online at mopoga.com
A folder cant give you a virus dude. Like I said, unzip it and load the html file using your browser - if it doesnt work delete everything.
