so, from what i understand, the vast majority of file size comes from videos?
i really, *Really* wish there was a version where the vidoes are either 720p, shortened, both, or replaced with images. my laptop is 720p so it doesn't really even help me anyways, and expecting people to have 29GB of free space on their pc (as you need enough space to extract it without deleting the zip) just to download one porn game seems...optimistic.

i love the creator, a lot of their games are great, but maybe having 6 hours of HD video in your game will, at the very least, alienate a decent chunk of people.
luckily i just found an old hard drive with space on it, so i can download the zip onto the hard drive and extract it to the internal, but that's theonly reason i'm able to do this.

PS: the onlineversion is unplayable because there's a 1-3 minute wait every single time you click anything, and for perspective, if each load was 5 seconds, than the first minute would have maybe 70 clicks, so if the downloaded version's load time is 5 seconds per page, that's 3.5 hours online vs 5 minutes downloaded.
though i can't be certain that the downloaded one is that short

I had a chat with the creator specifically about this.
Long story short: they made a bad decision as far as the game engine goes and realized their mistake way too late to turn back. There is no option to add a lower quality version and the online version ostensibly depends on the specs of your machine.
I found that my phone can do the online version much faster than my desktop (it's almost seamless), so if that's an option for you, try that.

This, I'm afraid. I ended up hating the engine with a burning passion by the time I finished the game. There were so many things wrong with it. Those things included a lack of support for better compression (I was stuck using an older version of webm which didn't compress as well as later editions do). I also couldn't step down the resolution without essentially starting over, and there was no way to do two resolutions in the same project.

Admittedly, though, even if I had been able to use the better compression, the game would still have been maybe 60-70% of the size it ended up as. The truth is that, at the end of the day, there's only so much you can compress several hours worth of HD video. The game ended up with over 300 unique sex scenes and there were between 1-3 minutes of video(s) for each scene. To a certain extent, the file size was always going to be large, because the game itself is enormous and expansive, with oodles of content. In retrospect, I sort of wish I'd have broken the game down into Episodes, with each area being an episode. That would have at least allowed the game to be downloaded in smaller fragments, even if it actually would have increased the total end size (since the way the engine worked, you'd end up with abut 1.5 gb of engine date for each episode). But at the time I didn't consider it. And it's much too late to go back and rerelease it that way now.

As for the online version. Ugh. The problem there is a combination of server traffic, bandwidth, and your own device's capability. I've upgraded the server service several times, so it's not likely to be the bottleneck for most people. But the online version is basically unusable without decent broadband and a device with a decent amount of Ram. There's unfortunately nothing I could really do about that. Any now, of course, I've moved onto other games. And away from that god awful engine -_-.

So, first off: Sorry if i came off as agressive, not sure if i sounded civil or rude, but if anything it's a compliment as it's just slight frustration at how amazing this game seems but at how difficult it is to experience.

But my main question right now is: Okay, i downloaded it, moved it to an external hard drive, extracted it to the internal, and can now play it, but not only do some things still take about 20 seconds, but every single time that i move areas, there's about a 20% chance of it freezing.
i've moved areas about 8 times so far, and two of them were permafreezes. In fact, the second time at all that i moved areas, i wwent into the blacksmiths and just thought it took forever, but after a minute i quit and restarted and it only took like 15 seconds.

so, my question is: is there a way to improve the times and/or lower the freeze chance?
i couldn't close chrome at the ime, but i can try that, as well as trying high priority, but i can't really think of anything else.
there are only a few graphical options, and i'm not sure how to lower freeze chance, maybe run as admin or something.

either way, both this and your harbor game are great, though i'm somewhat of a 'forced/unwanted humiliation/embarrassment' slut >///< so some of the harbor stuff i somewhat ignore, but anyways:
your gams are great, and i hope you keep up the really good work <3 <3 <3
and thank you for responding to my message by proxy, it's really cool and it's awesome that you're active in the community, it's always nice to see a creator care enough to directly talk with their fans, especially outside of a discord.

Well.
i made a save at the first point in the game where you can choose a location (right after the tutorial, where you can go to blacksmith or magic shop or guild or adventuring).
And i loaded it up, and tried to go to the blacksmith's shop 5 times. it worked twice.
i then made a save inside of the blacksmith's shop, and tried to load that save 4 times. it worked once.
and of the three times that i actually got into the blacksmith's, i tried to ask him to do work, and that worked 0 times.

i left it loading while typing this, and it finally loaded after about three minutes, but i can't waiut three minutes inbetween every15 seconds of dialogue. I'll probably just play the game once i eventually get a good laptop. paid $440 for this off of newegg and either it's a lemon or they lied to me, because according to thespecs it says it has, it should be able to run F:NV or skyrim at like 40fps medium settings, and it can *Barely* run LoL on performance mode lowest settings 30fps :|
sorry for the tangent, but seriously, newegg sucks, don't do business with them.

hmm, after letting it load in the blacksmiths, it's working a bit better! still not good, but if it's not a fluke, maybe it just needs to be left open for like 10 minutes at first to pre-load the next areas or something...

Yikes! I'm not sure how I missed these. I usually check in every few days here, but these replies must have slipped through the cracks somehow :-(. Still, even if you've likely moved on, I'll reply just in case someone else has the same issue(s).

First and most important: There is something deeply fucked up with the Blacksmith part of the game. I don't know what it is. At one point I literally ripped that entire section of the game out and redid the code for it from scratch...and it still didn't fix it. As near as I can tell, there's some problem baked into the actual project file that I can't even get too because of the engine, let alone fix. And the worst part is that it only happens to some people, randomly, and I've never been able to reliably reproduce it on my own system. Which makes me think that it's somehow hardware specific.

On that Note: The one thing that seems to help most people having issues is to download the Offline Web Build. It's not available here for whatever reason, but you can find it . That version is downloaded but then played in-browser. Which, for whatever screwy reason, seems to eliminate a lot of the issues.

The Speed Thing: Honestly, not a lot I can tell you that might help with that. The downloadable Web Build might improve things. But I can't promise it would. I can say that it will probably get better once you move past the first area, at least a little. When I first started the game I was using less compression. By build 3 I had flipped to JPEGs and Webm, but I never redid the earliest content with the higher compression rate, since fiddling with anything already loaded into the engine was something like playing Russian roulette...

No need to apologize!
Even responding late is much more than i get from 90% of my posts, and it's nice that you take the time to respond.
I hadn't meant to type out that much, but i'll definitely plug my hard drive in again and download it. I wouldn't be surprised if playing it off the external hurt the speed as well, so i'll free up some room on my pc. I'll just download it to hard drive and extract it to pc, though maybe i did that last time? can't remember.

Either way, your stuff is really nice, and your new game(though it's a bit too consentual in a lot of places for my taste, as forced/unwatned humiliation is top tier) is really good as well, and i'm glad you took the time to respond. <3

So after sitting through that massive download size and everything I open the game and get nothing but a black screen. I've tried letting it sit for upwards of 20 minutes, I've tried opening it as an administrator and nothing.

1) Check your version. Make sure you have the one you need. Mac won't run on Windows and vice versa.

2) Make sure it's inside a folder, not on your desktop. It doesn't like that for some reason.

3) Try the . You'll need a good connection if you don't want horrible load times between areas. But if it works...

4) There is an Offline Download of the Online Version. The engine I used for this game is a horrible piece of trash that I came to hate with the burning passion of 10,000 super novas by the time I finished the game. And for some people, but only some people, the POS engine decides it doesn't like their shoe color or something and just turns into a brick. I tried everything, including contacting the engine's developer multiple times, trying to figure out why it randomly does that for only some people, with seemingly no rhyme or reason. They were...less than helpful. In fact, they were downright dicks that basically refused to provide support, despite their software being a paid engine.

The only workaround I've found (which works 95% of the time, thankfully) is to play the Online web-browser version. Which is why to eliminate the horrible load times for people with less-than-amazing PCs or internet connections.. You should absolutely test and make sure that the online version plays for you online first. But if it does, the offline build of it should as well. It's a shitty solution, I know, since it means downloading the massive file again But I'm afraid it's the only one I have for you if 1-3 don't solve your problem :-(. On the bright side, the file is massive for a reason, as this is one of the largest/longest games of this type you're ever likely to encounter. With over 300 unique sex scenes, it's the largest graphical adult game I know of for sheer content. There might be bigger ones out there, but aside from a few text-based games, I've never personally encountered one larger.

I've downloaded the right version, it's in a folder by itself and it still doesn't work. The Online version USED to work for me(I decided downloading the offline version might help load times), but now it's giving me nothing but a black screen as well. I've even downloaded the offline version from two different sources thinking it might have something to do with it, unfortunately it didn't. Extremely unfortunate because I was really looking forward to trying this game out.

Gah. Bugger. I think I know what you've run into. Though I can't be 100% sure. I just tried loading the Offline Web build again myself and it looks like the various web browsers have gone back to blocking CORS(Cross Origin Requests) by default. They'd all stopped with that shit at some point, but Firefox and Edge both kicked up a CORS error when I tried to run it now, resulting in a blank black screen. You can check if that's your issue by hitting F12 in most browsers while the game is trying to run and look in the console. Usually, they'll list a CORS error out right there.

The instructions in the original release post on how to deal with that might help. Unfortunately, they are dated. And the simple solution for Firefox didn't work for me immediately. I'm afraid I can't spend a lot of time on this right now, as I'm busy doing the testing for the latest Haven's Port build. If the CORS errors are popping up for you, you can try finding a solution yourself (some of the other options in the original link I gave might work, I don't have time to try them at the moment. And you can try googling it, of course.). I'll try to come back to this once I've gotten Haven's Port Build 18 released in a few days, to see if I can figure it out myself.

Sorry I can't offer an immediate solution :-(.

So...I've been poking and prodding at the Offline Web Version whenever I could spare time in the last couple of weeks. Sadly, what I've determined is that:

1) It IS a CORS error. It's preventing the engine from mapping the game's data when you try to launch the web build locally.
2) There's absolutely nothing I can do about it. I've attempted to get a CORS fix working for Firebox, Chrome, and Edge...and all three failed. At best, I managed to eliminate the actual errors, but the data still failed to map. The online web version still works fine...but the Offline one is now effectively toast.
3) I've taken advantage of this time to clean up a few other issues in the game. Sometime, hopefully in the near future, I'm going to gamble and update the engine. Honestly, every single time I did that during development, it broke a ton of shit. But there's at least a small chance that doing so might actually fix something this time. If it does, I'll deploy a version of the game with the engine updates and a few other fixes. Honestly, though, I'm not overly hopeful.

I gotta say while i'm not really into Visual novels myself most of the time, this does seem pretty interesting.
It definitely is really big though...

Honestly more than anything, the whole heavily modded Skyrim SexLab set-up being used towards making a game seems pretty neat. But what if... someone were to take that concept a bit further and do a full conversion mod similar to Enderall, but the focus is definitely of an erotic one. Maybe someone has done something like that already.

Is there an up-to-date scene guide for the full release? Don't want to miss anything~
You know what? This game has been finished for long enough at this point that I don't really see a reason not to share the Final Patreon guide. Particularly given that I'm now having trouble even supporting the game, due to changes in the engine. No need to cause more grief than necessary for anyone that does get it working. I've attached the final guide I made for the $10 Patrons during development to this post.
