No doubt there are many, many games with much harder content, but the build-up and eroticism alone should be enough to satisfy most people. Incest has become a vanilla genre now. Some people just expect it to be in every game they play so in my opinion it has lost the taboo aspect to it that I guess it used to have.
Honestly, I find most incest games stupid so I wouldn't care if they were banned or something. It's not that I wish it happened, I'm saying I wouldn't be affected if it ever happens.
I don't mind incest games and play some of them because, why not? Some like Sisterly Lust were not that bad, and in others like Treasure of Nadia incest is just an element of a bigger story. Yet I think that this incest-mania is hampering the evolution of the sector: if shitty games with no appeal other than incest garner much more financial support and popularity than better non-incest games, devs like Icstor or Gumdrop will keep on popping up either scamming their unconditional supporters or providing cringeworthy stories. Maybe it's not worth the effort trying to attract players by providing a good game, an interesting story and nice art.

Wouldn't call sex in CoBD vanilla but it also isn't that hardcore either. Besides the Shanlon scene, most are pretty generic stuff with some on the dirtier side. Doesn't make it bad though. In here it makes it better even as it does not feel forced. I had never really liked super hardcore shit on VN anyways. Most of them are loads of crap made by the imagination of some creepy japanese dude that probably is insane. Besides the sex here really fits the character, with Katie on the softer side of thing and Victoria, Ellen on the wilder side of things. I haven't play 0.5 yet but i trust Phillygames to also had some steamy scene in it as well. Planning to pick the game up again at 0.6, making the enjoyment a little bit longer

Well, someone felt the need to create a patch to turn her into your daughter.
Was it really necessary? Did it add any depth to the plot or any sexiness to the game ? I believe some people only get off when they read "yeah dad, fuck me" or "yeah, little bro, pound my pussy." It must be like an addiction.
I don't need Chandra or Gloria to be the MC's daughter to find them sexy.

DA had a darker tone. CoBD has some good scenes and a lot of potential, but we play as the hero basically.
Philly can make scenes in which the hero is more dominant like the one in DA but it can be seen as repetitive.
Another option would be to make more scenes between npcs without the MC, to explore darker fetishes, but MC/harem lovers will hate that probably.

I was always under the impression that Philly included Judy as a stepdaughter to bait the incest-coomer crowd. In the end I don't think it was necessary and Judy might as well have been completely unrelated

I don't think it had as much to do with baiting incest fans as it had with adding to the story a naive, younger LI who trusted the MC and for whom he started feeling things he hadn't before. It could well have been his best friend's daughter, his goddaughter or someone else along those lines. The hard-boiled detective caring for, protecting and finally romantically pursuing a girl he's known since she was a child. It's a sexy situation, regardless of whether or not there are blood ties.
Also, her being the MC's cheating ex-wife's daughter adds a bit of colour to the story. They both agree her mother is a whore, in the beginning he's hesitant about putting her up in his apartment, etc.

Totally agree but here's a thought - I think it would have been better to make Judy the daughter of the MC's late & long-time business partner. The late partner died quite a few years ago saving MC's life and as such he had always felt a bit of guardian responsibility toward Judy.
But that's going way off-topic in this thread.

But remember that the MC had been a police officer for a long time before becoming a private eye, and Eddie used to be his partner in the department.
Maybe not his late business-partner's daughter but the orphaned child of his first partner in the department, who died while instructing him when she was a little child.
Just some interesting possibilities, none of them involving incest.
